रहीम की विनम्रता का अनोखा उदाहरण

कवि रहीम और कवि गंग गहरे मित्र थे। रहीम गरीबों को बड़े पैमाने पर दान दिया करते थे। वे पंक्ति में खड़े लोगों को जब दान देते थे तो अपनी नजरें नीची कर लेते थे। दान लेने वाले कुछ तो एक बार लेकर फिर दोबारा पंक्ति में लग जाते और फिर से दान ले लेते।

गंग कवि को यह बड़ा अजीब लगता था। एक दिन उनसे नहीं रहा गया और रहीम से बोले, दान देने का आपका यह कौन सा तरीका है ? जब दान देने को हाथ ऊपर करते हैं तो आप आंखें नीचे क्यों कर लेते हैं?

रहीम ने बड़े शांत भाव से अपने मित्र की जिज्ञासा का जबाव देते हुए कहा कि…देनहार कोई ओर है, देता है दिन रैन, लोग भरम मुझपर करें, तासों नीचे नैन।

यानी देने वाला तो कोई ओर है यानी ईश्वर जो दिन रात देता रहता है। जो यहां लेने आते हैं उन्हें यह भ्रम होता है कि मैं दे रहा हूं। यही सोचकर मेरी आंखे झुक जाती हैं।

Poet Rahim and poet Gang were deep friends. Rahim used to donate on a large scale to the poor. When they used to give donations to people standing in line, they lowered their eyes. Some of the donors take it once and then take it again and again take the donation.
