साधना में लीन रहते हुए पहले हम स्वयं को परखें

एक महात्मा बहुत ज्ञानी और अंतर्मुखी थे। अपनी साधना में ही लीन रहते थे। एक बार एक लड़का उनके पास आया और उसने कहा हे महात्मा आप मुझे अपना चेला बना लीजिए।

बुढ़ापा आ रहा है यह सोचकर उन्होंने उसे चेला बना लिया। चेला बहुत चंचल प्रकृति का था। ध्यान में उसका मन नहीं लगता था। गुरु ने कई बार उसे समझाने की चेष्टा की पर सफलता नहीं मिली।

लड़का बहुत ही आलसी प्रवृत्ति का इंसान था। उसने एक दिन गुरुदेव से कहा मुझे कोई चमत्कार सिखा दें। गुरु ने कहा, वत्स! चमत्कार कोई काम की वस्तु नहीं है। पर चेला अपनी बात पर अड़ा रहा।

बालहठ के सामने गुरुजी को झुकना पड़ा। उन्होंने अपने झोले में से एक पारदर्शी डंडा निकाला और चेले के हाथ में उसे थमाते हुए कहा, यह लो चमत्कार। इस डंडे को तुम किसी व्यक्ति के सामने करोगे, उसके दोष इसमें प्रकट हो जाएंगे।

चेला डंडे को पाकर बहुत प्रसन्न हुआ। गुरु ने चेले के हाथ में डंडा क्या थमाया, मानो बंदर के हाथ में तलवार थमा दी। कोई भी व्यक्ति उस आश्रम में आता, चेला हर आगंतुक के के सामने उस डंडे को घुमा देता। फलत: उसकी कमजोरियां उसमें प्रकट हो जातीं और चेला उनका दुष्प्रचार शुरू कर देता। गुरुजी सारी बात समझ गए।

एक दिन उन्होंने चेले से कहा, एक बार डंडा अपनी ओर भी घुमाकर देख लो, इससे स्वयं का परीक्षण हो जाएगा कि आश्रम में आ कर अपनी साधना से तुमने कितनी प्रगति की है। चेले को बात जंची, उसने फौरन डंडा अपनी ओर किया।

लेकिन देखा कि उसके भीतर तो दोषों का अंबार लगा है। शर्म से उसका चेहरा लटक गया। वह तत्काल गुरु के चरणों में गिर पड़ा और अपनी भूल की क्षमा मांगते हुए बोला, आज से मैं दूसरों के दोष देखने की भूल नहीं करूंगा।

Whenever a person comes to that ashram, the disciple revolves around that pole in front of every visitor. As a result, his weaknesses appear in him, and the disciple begins to spread their evil. Guruji understood everything.
One day, he said to the disciple, once you see the shoulder turning towards yourself, it will be done to test yourself that how much progress have you made from your spiritual practice by coming to the ashram. When the disciple came to know, he immediately took his side to the side.But I noticed that there is a lot of flaws inside him. His face was hanging in shame He immediately fell at the feet of the Guru and apologized for his mistake saying, From today I will not forget to see the faults of others.
