संसार में ईमानदारी ही इंसान की सबसे बड़ी पूंजी

गोपाल कृष्ण गोखले भारत के ऐसे स्वतंत्रता सेनानी, समाजसेवी, विचारक एवं सुधारक थे। जो अपने साथियों के बीच अपनी ईमानदारी का पर्याय माने जाते थे।

उनके बचपन का एक रोचक प्रसंग है। जो गोखले जी की ईमानदारी का एक सर्वश्रेष्ठ उदाहरण पेश करता है।

जब वह महाराष्ट्र के रत्नागिरी जिले के काटलुक गांव में एक प्राइमरी स्कूल पढ़ते थे। तब एक बार उनके अध्यापक ने ईमानदारी पर सभी विद्यार्थियों के विचार जानने की जिज्ञासा से एक प्रश्न किया।

प्रश्न कुछ इस तरह था कि- ‘यदि तुम्हें रास्ते में एक हीरा मिल जाए तो तुम उसका क्या करोगे?

एक विद्यार्थी ने कहा कि मैं इसे बेच कर धनवान बन जाउंगा। दूसरे विद्यार्थी ने कहा कि वह उसे बेच कर विदेश यात्रा करूंगा। तीसरे विद्यार्थी ने कहा कि उस मैं हीरे के मालिक का पता लगाकर उसे यह हीरा लौटा दूंगा।

तीसरे विद्यार्थी का उत्तर सुनकर अध्यापक चकित रह गए, फिर उन्होंने उस विद्यार्थी से कहा कि- ‘मान लो बहुत पता लगाने पर भी उस हीरे का मालिक अगर तुम्हें न मिले तो?

वह बोला- ‘तब मैं हीरे को बेचूंगा और इससे मिले पैसे को देश की सेवा में लगा दूंगा।’

अध्यापक बालक का उत्तर सुन कर बहुत खुश हो गए, और बोले कि शाबाश तुम बड़े होकर सचमुच देशभक्त बनोगे, और यही विद्यार्थी अपनी ईमानदारी से ओत-प्रोत विचारों के चलते महान स्वतंत्रता सेनानी गोपाल कृष्ण गोखले के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हुआ।

Gopal Krishna Gokhale was such a freedom fighter, social worker, thinker and reformer of India. Who were considered synonyms of their integrity among their colleagues.

His childhood is an interesting affair. Which presents a best example of Gokhale’s honesty.

When he used to read a primary school in Kataluk village of Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra. Then once his teacher took a question on the sincerity of knowing all the students’ thoughts on honesty.

The question was like this: ‘If you find a diamond on the road then what will you do with it?

One student said that I would become rich by selling it. The other student said that he would sell it and travel abroad. The third student said that I will find out the diamond owner and return this diamond to him.

The teacher was amazed by the reply of the third student, and then he told the student- ‘Believe me, even if you do not find the owner of that diamond even after finding out?

He said, ‘Then I will sell diamonds and I will give money to the service of the country.’

The teachers were very happy to hear the reply of the child, and said that you would be truly patriotic by becoming grown up, and this student has become famous by the name of the great freedom fighter Gopal Krishna Gokhale because of his sincere belief.
