शिकारी आएगा जाल बिछाएगा पर हम नहीं जाएंगे

एक बार एक साधु ने अपनी कुटिया में कुछ तोते पाल रखे थे। सभी तोते अपनी सुरक्षा के लिए एक गीत गाते थे। गीत कुछ इस तरह था कि ‘शिकारी आएगा जाल बिछाएगा पर हम नहीं जाएंगे’ एक दिन साधु भिक्षा मांगने के लिए पास के एक गांव में गए।

इसी बीच एक बहेलिया ने देखा एक पेड़ पर तोते बैठे हैं उसे उन पक्षियों को देख उसे लालच हुआ उसने उन सभी तोते को पकड़ने की योजना बनाने लगा। तभी तोते एक साथ गाने लगे शिकारी आएगा जाल बिछाएगा पर हम नहीं जाएंगे। बहेलिया ने जब यह सुना तो आश्चर्यचकित रह गया

उसने इतने समझदार तोते कहीं देखें ही नहीं थे उसने सोचा इन्हे पकड़ना असंभव हैं ये तो प्रशिक्षित तोते लगते हैं। बहेलिया को नींद आ रही थी उसने उसी पेड़ के नीचे अपनी जाल में कुछ अमरूद के टुकड़े डाल कर सो गया, सोचा कि संभवतः कोई लालची और बुद्धू तोता फंस जाएं।

कुछ समय बाद जब वह सोकर उठा तो देखा कि सारे तोते एक साथ गा रहे थे शिकारी आएगा जाल बिछाएगा पर हम नहीं जाएंगे। पर वह यह गीत जाल के अंदर गा रहे थे। शिकारी उन सब बुद्धू तोते की हाल देख हंस पड़ा और सब को पकड़ कर ले गया।
