ज्ञान प्राप्ति के लिए मन में श्रद्धा होना जरूरी

एक बार बालक नचिकेता ने अपने पिता से कहा, आप ब्राह्मणों को कृषि कार्य के लिए अनुपयोगी गाय दान में दे रहे हैं। पिता ने यह नहीं कहा कि हां, यह ठीक नहीं है परंतु वे समझ गए कि यह मेरी निंदा कर रहा है, मेरा अनादर कर रहा है, मेरे कृत्य की भर्त्सना कर रहा है।

नचिकेता ने पिता से कहा- शास्त्र कहते हैं कि अच्छी वस्तु, अच्छी निधि तथा अच्छी संपदा का दान करना चाहिए। अगर आप दान ही कर रहे हैं तो मुझको किसे दान में देंगे ?

पिता मौन हो गए, लेकिन बालक नचिकेता बार- बार टोकने लगा-पिताजी ! आप मुझे किसे दान में देंगे? आपने यह भी विचार किया होगा कि मुझे भी किसी को दान में देंगे। इस पर पिता ने क्रोध में कहा-मैं तुझे यमराज को दान में देता हूं। आज से तू यम की वस्तु हुआ। दान की गई वस्तु कभी ली नहीं जाती और कभी लौटाई भी नहीं जाती। अब तू मेरा नहीं रहा। चूंकि मैं तुझे दान कर चुका हूं इसलिए तू मेरे पास नहीं रहेगा।

बालक नचिकेता को यह बुरा नहीं लगा कि मेरे पिता ने मुझे कुछ कहा है। ऐसी श्रद्धा थी नचिकेता की अपने पिता के प्रति। यही श्रद्धा ज्ञान के लिए कारक बनी और नचिकेता को यमराज के द्वार पर ले गई। यमराज ने देखा कि यह सामान्य बालक नहीं, श्रद्धावान बालक है। जब हमारे पास श्रद्धा आती है तो वह हमें सक्षम बनाती है।

अपने श्रद्धा भाव से हम गुरु के पास जो गुरुत्व है, साधु के पास जो साधुत्व है, संन्यासी के पास जो संन्यास तत्व है, गंगा के पास जो गंगत्व है, देवताओं के पास जो देवत्व है और भगवान के पास जो भगवत्ता है, उसके स्वाभाविक रूप से अधिकारी बन जाते हैं। श्रद्धावान व्यक्ति स्वाभाविक रूप से योग्यता रखता है चूंकि उसके पास तर्क नहीं होते।

नचिकेता संकल्पित मन से यमराज की चौखट पर बैठ गया। यमराज ने कहा-तू तीन दिन से मेरे द्वार पर बैठा है, बड़ा हठी है। मांग क्या मांगना चाहता है? इस पर बालक नचिकेता ने कहा- मैं मृत्यु का भेद जानने आया हूं। जन्म-मृत्यु क्या है, यह भेद मुझे बता दीजिए।

यह सुनकर यमराज हतप्रभ हो गए। उन्होंने बालक नचिकेता के समक्ष ढेरों प्रलोभन रखते हुए कहा-तुम चक्रवर्ती सम्राट बनने, पृथ्वी पर प्रतिष्ठित और पूजित होने अथवा स्वर्ग की संपूर्ण संपदा प्राप्त करने का वर मांग लो। भला तुम्हारे इन प्रश्नों में क्या रखा है? बालक नचिकेता ने कहा-महाराज! मुझे यह सब कुछ नहीं चाहिए।मुझे वही चाहिए जिसके बारे में मैंने आपसे पूछा है।यमराज मजबूर हो गए।

श्रद्धा उसे भी कहते हैं जिसके सामने जगत के सारे आकर्षण गौण हो जाएं। श्रद्धा का एक अर्थ यह भी है कि जगत के सभी आकर्षण गौण हो गए हैं।श्रद्धा का एक अर्थ यह भी है कि जगत के आकर्षण आपके सामने शिथिल हो जाएं। श्रद्धा के बल पर ही बालक नचिकेता ने सब कुछ प्राप्त कर लिया।

अगर हमारे निवेश के लिए श्रद्धा की पूंजी है तो हम संसार की अलभ्य वस्तु भी प्राप्त कर सकते हैं। हमारी श्रद्धा होना चाहिए और मार्ग की सारी मुश्किलें स्वमेव ही समाप्त हो जाती हैं। श्रद्धा के बल पर ही पंगु पर्वत लांघने का साहस कर जाता है। यह हमारी श्रद्धा ही है जो हमें ज्ञानवान बनाती है। ‘श्रद्धावान लभते ज्ञानम्’।

जब आप श्रद्धा के साथ कुछ प्राप्ति के लिए जाते हैं तो भले ही किसी में ज्यादा देने का सामर्थ्य न हो तब भी आप कुछ लेकर ही लौटेंगे।

Nachiketa said to the father-Shastra says that good things, good funds and good wealth should be donated. Whom will you give me if you are doing charity?

The father became silent, but the child Nachiketa repeatedly began to think- Dad! Whom can you give me? You might also have thought that I would donate to anyone. On this father said in anger – I donate Yama to you. From today you have become a thing of Yama. The donated object is never taken and never returned. You are no longer mine. Because I have donated you so you will not be with me.

It was not bad for the child Nachiketa that my father said something to me. Such reverence was towards Nachiketa’s father. This reverence became the factor for knowledge and took Nachiketa to the door of Yamraj. Yamraj saw that this is not a normal child, a thankful child. When we have reverence, it enables us.

From our reverence, we have a gravity to the guru, the saint who has a saintliness, a sannyasin element near the Saints, which is the Gangetic near the Ganga, the deities who have the Gods and the God who has God, natural Forms become official The revered person is naturally qualified because he does not have any reason.

Nachiketa sat on the fringe of Yamraj with a thoughtful mind. Yamraj said – You have been sitting at my door for three days, it is a big obstinate. What demand demands? The boy Nachiketa said on this – I have come to know the difference of death. Tell me the difference between birth and death.

Yamraj was shocked to hear this. He said in front of the child Nachiketa, a lot of temptation – you should ask for the formation of a Chakravarti emperor, to be revered and worshiped on earth or to get the complete wealth of heaven. What have you kept in these questions? The boy said, Nachiketa- Maharaj! I do not want all this. I want the same about which I have asked you. Humayr was forced.

Shraddha is also called as to which all the attractions of the world will be secondary. There is also a sense of reverence that all the attractions of the world have become minor. One meaning of faith is that the world’s attractions are loosened in front of you. Only the child Nachiketa received everything on the strength of reverence.

If we have the capital of reverence for our investment, then we can get ridiculous things of the world too. We should be revered and all the difficulties of the path are automatically ended. Only on the strength of reverence, Pangu is daring to cross the mountain. This is our reverence which makes us knowledgeable. ‘Shradhawan Lobhte Gnanam’.

Even when you go for some achievement with reverence, even if you do not have the power to give more to anyone, you will return only after taking so.
