अमूमन लोग अल्बर्ट आइंस्टाइन से उनके सापेक्षता सिद्धान्त को सरल शब्दों में समझाने के लिए निवेदन किया करते थे।

इसके उत्तर में आइंस्टाइन कहते थे, ‘आप अपने हाथ को जलती अंगीठी के ठीक ऊपर एक मिनट के लिए रखिए तो वह एक मिनट आपको एक घंटे के बराबर लगेगा और किसी सुंदर महिला के साथ एक घंटे तक बैठिए तो वह एक घंटा आपको एक मिनट के बराबर लगेगा। यही सापेक्षता है।’

इस पर ड्राइवर ने कहा, ‘अरे भाई इस प्रश्न का जवाब तो इतना सरल है कि मेरा ड्राइवर ही बता देगा।’ ऐसा कहकर उसने ड्राइवर की पोशाक पहने आइंस्टाइन को जवाब देने के लिए खड़ा कर दिया। और आइंस्टाइन ने उस प्रश्न का सही उत्तर दिया।
