मनुष्य उदारता से कर सकता है हर बुराई में सुधार

एक गुरु अपने आश्रम में कई जगह से आए शिष्यों को शिक्षा देते थे। ऐसे ही एक वर्ष आश्रम में एक छात्र चोरी करते हुए पकडा गया।

यह प्रकरण गुरु के ध्यान में लाया गया और उनसे निवेदन किया गया कि ऐसे छात्र को तो आश्रम से बाहर निकाल देना चाहिए। गुरु ने इस बात की ओर कोई ध्यान नहीं दिया।

कुछ समय बाद वह छात्र फिर से चोरी करते हुए पकडा गया और फिर से बात गुरु तक पहुंची। गुरु ने फिर उस बात को अनसुना कर दिया। इससे दूसरे शिष्य क्रोधित हो गए। उन्होंने गुस्से में कहा कि अगर इस छात्र को आश्रम से बाहर नहीं निकाला जाता है तो वे आश्रम छोड़ देंगे।

जब यह बात गुरु तक पहुंची तो उन्होंने अपने सभी शिष्यों को बुलाया और उनसे कहा- ‘आप सभी जानते हो कि क्या सही है और क्या गलत। आप अगर चाहते हो तो और कहीं जाकर भी अध्ययन कर सकते हो लेकिन यह छात्र जो चोरी के आरोप में पकडा गया है वह नहीं जानता है कि उसके लिए क्या सही है और क्या गलत।

अगर मैं भी इसे सही और गलत का भेद नहीं बताऊंगा तो कौन बताएगा? मेरे ज्ञान की सबसे ज्यादा जरूरत तो इसी छात्र को है। मैं इसे यहीं रखना चाहूंगा आप अगर आश्रम छोड़कर जाना चाहते हैं तो जा सकते हैं। जिस छात्र ने चोरी की थी उसकी आंखों से अश्रु बह रहे थे और वह बार-बार अपने किए पर माफी मांग रहा था।

When this matter reached Guru, he called all his disciples and told them – ‘You all know what is right and what is wrong. You can study if you want to go somewhere else but this student who has been caught in the charge of theft does not know what is right for him and what is wrong.

If I do not even tell the difference of right and wrong, then who will tell? The most needed of my knowledge is the same student. I would like to keep it here. If you want to leave the ashram then you can go. The tears were flowing through the eyes of the student who had stolen and he was repeatedly apologizing for his actions.
