सुखी जीवन का मूलमंत्र

जापान के सम्राट यामातो का एक राज्यमंत्री था। जिसका नाम था ‘ओ-चो-सान’। उसका परिवार सौहार्द के लिए बड़ा प्रसिद्ध था। हालांकि उसके परिवार में लगभग एक हजार सदस्य थे, पर उनके बीच एकता का अटूट संबंध था। सभी सदस्य साथ-साथ रहते और साथ-साथ ही खान खाते थे। फिर उनमें द्वेष कलह की बात ही कहां?

ओ-चो-सान के परिवार के सौहार्द की बात यामातो के कानों तक पहुंची। सत्यता की जांच करने के लिए एक दिन वे स्वयं वृद्ध मंत्री के घर तक आ पहुंचें।

स्वागत सत्कार और शिष्टाचार की साधारण रस्में समाप्त हो जाने के बाद यामातो ने पूछा, ‘महाशय! मैंने आपके परिवार की एकता और मिलनसारिता की कई कहानियां सुनी हैं। क्या आप बताएंगे कि एक हजार से भी अधिक व्यक्तियों वाले आपके परिवार में यह सौहार्द और स्नेह संबंध किस तरह बना हुआ है।’

ओ-चो-सान वृद्धावस्था के कारण अधिक देर तक बातें नहीं कर सकता था। अतः उसने अपने पौत्र को संकेत से कलम-दवात और कागज लाने के लिए कहा। उन चीजों के आ जाने के बाद उसने अपने कांपते हाथों से कोई सौ शब्द लिखकर वह कागज सम्राट को दे दिया।

उत्सुकतावश सम्राट यामातो ने उस कागज पर नजर डाली तो वह चकित रह गए। दरअसल कागज में एक ही शब्द को सौ बार लिखा गया था और वह शब्द था, ‘सहनशीलता’।

सम्राट को चकित और अवाक् देख ओ-चो-सान ने अपनी कांपती हुई आवाज से कहा, ‘मेरे परिवार के सौहार्द का रहस्य बस इसी एक शब्द में निहित है। सहनशीलता का यह महामंत्र ही हमारे बीच एकता का धागा अब तक पिरोए हुए है। इस महामंत्र को जितनी बार दुहराया जाए, कम ही है।’

O-Cho-san could not talk for long because of old age. Therefore, she asked her grandson to bring paper and paper from the sign. After those things came, he wrote a hundred words with his trembling hands and handed it over to the emperor.

Curiously, when Emperor Yamato looked at the paper, he was astonished. In fact, the same word was written hundred times in the paper and the word was ‘tolerance’.

Astonished and awakened by the emperor, O-Cho-san said with his shaky voice, “The mystery of my family’s cordiality lies in just one word. This Mahamantra of tolerance is the thread of unity between us. The number of times this Mahamantra is repeated, is less.
