दो पैसे के काम के लिए तीस साल की बलि!

स्वामी विवेकानंद एक बार कहीं जा रहे थे। रास्ते में नदी पड़ी तो वे वहीं रुक गए क्योंकि नदी पार कराने वाली नाव कहीं गई हुई थी। स्वामीजी बैठकर राह देखने लगे कि उधर से नाव लौटे तो नदी पार की जाए।

एका-एक वहां एक महात्मा भी आ पहुंचे। स्वामीजी ने अपना परिचय देते हुए उनका परिचय लिया। बातों ही बातों में महात्माजी को पता चला की स्वामीजी नदी किनारे नाव की प्रतीक्षा कर रहे हैं।

महात्मा जी बोले, अगर ऐसी छोटी-मोटी बाधाओं को देखकर रुक जाओगे तो दुनिया में कैसे चलोगे? तुम तो स्वामी हो, बड़े आधात्यात्मिक गुरु और दार्शनिक माने जाते हो। जरा सी नदी नहीं पार कर सकते? देखो, नदी ऐसे पार की जाती है।

महात्मा जी खड़े हुए और पानी की सतह पर तैरते हुए लंबा चक्कर लगाकर वापस स्वामी जी के पास आ खड़े हुए। स्वामीजी ने आश्चर्य चकित होते हुए पूछा, महात्माजी, यह सिद्धि आपने कहां और कैसे पाई?

महात्मा जी मुस्कुराए और बड़े गर्व से बोले, यह सिद्धि ऐसे ही नहीं मिल गई। इसके लिए मुझे हिमालय की गुफाओं में तीस साल तपस्या करनी पड़ी।

महात्मा की इन बातों को सुनकर स्वामी जी मुस्करा कर बोले, आपके इस चमत्कार से मैं आश्चर्यचकित तो हूं लेकिन नदी पार करने जैसे काम जो दो पैसे में हो सकता है, उसके लिए आपने अपनी जिंदगी के तीस साल बर्बाद कर दिए।

यानी दो पैसे के काम के लिए तीस साल की बलि ! ये तीस साल अगर आप मानव कल्याण के किसी कार्य में लगाते या कोई दवा खोजने में लगाते, जिससे लोगों को रोग से मुक्ति मिलती तो आपका जीवन सचमुच सार्थक हो जाता।

Swami Vivekananda was going somewhere once. When the river fell on the way, they stopped there because the river crossing had gone somewhere. Swamiji sat down and started looking at that if the boat returned from there, then the river would be crossed.

There was a Mahatma who came there. Swamiji introduced himself while introducing himself. In the same thing, Mahatmaji came to know that Swamiji is waiting for the boat along the river.

Mahatma ji said, if you stop seeing such small obstacles then how will you go into the world? You are the master, you are considered as a great spiritual master and philosopher. Just like a river can not cross? Look, the river is crossed like this.

Mahatma ji stood up and floating on the surface of the water, after a long stride, came back to Swamiji. Swamiji wondered, wondering, Mahatmaji, where and how did you find this accomplishment?

Mahatma ji smiled and said with great pride, this achievement was not found like this. For this, I had to perform austerity for thirty years in the caves of the Himalayas.

After listening to these things, Swamiji smiled and said, “I am amazed by this miracle, but for thirty years of your life wasted for the work of crossing the river which can be in two paise.”

That means thirty years of sacrifice for the work of two money! If these thirty years you used to put any work in human welfare or to search for medicines, people would get relief from disease then your life would really be worthwhile.
