रानी लक्ष्मीबाई ने किसे दिया था करारा जबाव

झांसी की रानी लक्ष्मीबाई बेबाक अपनी बात रखती थीं। एक बार वह एक कथावाचक के यहां पहुंची। उस समय वहां कथा चल रही थी। वह बाल विधवा होने के बावजूद कांच की चूड़ियों की बजाए सोने की चूड़ियां पहने हुईं थीं।

उनके हाथों में चूड़ियों को देख, पंडित जी व्यंगात्मक लहजे में कहा, घोर कलयुग है। धर्म-कर्म की सारी मर्यादाएं टूट गईं हैं। विवाहित स्त्रियां पहले कांच की चूड़ियां पहनती थीं वो अब विधवा होने के बाद सोने की चूड़ियां पहन रही हैं।

जब यह बात कही गई, तब काफी लोग वहां मौजूद थे यह सुनकर लक्ष्मीबाई ने कहा, ‘महाराज! आप क्या जाने की हमने सोने की चूड़ियां क्यों पहन रखीं हैं। पति के जीते जी कांच की चूड़ियां इसलिए पहनती थीं ताकि हमारा सुहाग कांच की तरह नाशवान रहे। और जब उन्होंने शरीर त्याग दिया तब सोने की चूड़ियां इसलिए पहनती हैं ताकि हमारा सुहाग सोने की तरह चमकता रहे।’

वह पंडित लक्ष्मीबाई के इस उत्तर को सुनकर ठगा सा रह गया।

संक्षेप में, बिना कुछ जाने-समझे व्यंग्य करना कभी-कभी भारी भी पड़ सकता है। इसलिए व्यंग्य सोच-समझकर ही करना चाहिए।
