माघ मास के कृष्ण पक्ष की अमावस्या को “मौनी अमावस्या” के नाम से जाना जाता है। इस अमावस्या को माघी अमावस के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। इस दिन मौन व्रत धारण करने का विधान है। मौनी अमावस्या के दिन गंगा स्नान और दान का विशेष महत्व होता है।
अमावस्या का महत्व (Significance of Mauni Amavasya): भविष्यपुराण के अनुसार अमावस्या तिथि पितरों को अत्यंत प्रिय होती है। इस दिन दाव और तर्पण आदि करने से पितरों को तृप्ति प्राप्त होती है। जो पुरुष अमावस्या को पितृ-तर्पण, पिण्डदान आदि करते हैं उनके घर लक्ष्मी और सुख-समृद्धि की कमी नहीं रहती।
मौनी अमावस्या यानी आस्था का पर्व
माघ मास के कृष्ण पक्ष की अमावस्या, मौनी अमावस्या के नाम से प्रसिद्ध है। इस पवित्र तिथि को मौन या चुपकर रहकर अथवा मुनियों के समान आचरण पूर्वक स्नान-दान करने का विशेष महत्व है। इसी कारण इसे मौनी अमावस्या कहा जाता है। मौनी अमावस्या के दिन सोमवार का योग होने से इसका महत्व कई गुना बढ़ जाता है। अमावस्या इस मास का सबसे बड़ा पर्व माना जाता है। पुराणों में मौनी अमावस्या के दिन त्रिवेणी स्नान की जो महिमा वर्णित की गई है, वह स्वर्ग एंव मोक्ष को देने वाली है। स्नान के साथ ही पुराणों में त्रिवेणी तट पर दान की अपार महिमा वर्णित है। त्रिवेणी माघवं सोमं भरद्वाजंच वासुकिमः। वन्देक्षयवटं शेषं प्रयागं तीर्थनायकम।। प्रयाग तीर्थो का राजा है, यहां गंगा, यमुना एंव अदृश्य सरस्वती का संगम स्थान पवित्र त्रिवेणी, वेणीमाधव, सोमनाथ, भरद्वाज मुनि का आश्रम, वासुकि नाथ, अक्षयवट एंव शेषनाथ- ये सभी पवित्र स्थान है। मौनी अमावस्या को स्नान करके अपने नित्यकर्म से निवृत्त होने के बाद तिल, तिल के लड्डू, तिल का तेल, आंवला और वस्त्र आदि का दान करना चाहिए। आज के दिन आप एक दिन, एक सप्ताह, एक महीना तथा एक वर्ष का मौन व्रत रखकर आप शररीरिक, वाचिक व मानसकि कष्टों से मुक्ति पा सकते है। विशेष- 1- जिन जातकों का बुघ ग्रह पीडि़त या अशुभ फल दे रहा है, वह लोग मौनी अमावस्या के दिन मौन व्रत रहकर तुलसी के पेड़ का पूजन करें तथा प्रातःकाल तुलसी पत्तियों का सेवन करें। इसी दिन किन्नरों को हरी चूडि़यां व हरे रंग की साड़ी का दान करने से बुध ग्रह शुभ फल देने लगता है। 2- जिन लोगों का चन्द्र ग्रह अशुभ फल दे रहा है, वह लोग मौनी अमावस्या के दिन मौन व्रत रहें तथा खीर से भोलेनाथ का भोग लगाकर गरीबों में वितरण करें।
