विद्वान और महान बनने का रहस्य

एक नवयुवक ने महान बनने का विचार किया। विश्वविद्यालय की शिक्षा प्राप्त करने के बाद उसने महान व्यक्तियों के बारे में पढ़ डाला। किसी ने गुरुमंत्र दिया- महान बनने के लिए महान लोगों के संपर्क में रहना आवश्यक है।

अब नवयुवक ने उन सब लोगों के संपर्क में रहना शुरू कर दिया जो महान साहित्यकार, कलाकार, नेता, विचारक और वैज्ञानिक थे, परंतु उस नवयुवक ने सभी में कोई न कोई दोष देखा। यह सब कुछ देख कर वह निराश होकर शहर से दूर सुनसान सड़क पर निकल आया।

अचनानक उस सड़क पर एक अधेड़ उम्र के सज्जन से उसकी भेंट हो गई। उन्होंने नवयुवक से निराशा का कारण पूछा। युवक बोला पड़। अगर मैं विद्वान और महान दोनों बनना चाहूं तो मुझे क्या करना होगा?

तब उस व्यक्ति ने उत्तर दिया कि महान बनने के लिए महान बनने की इच्छा और विद्वान बनने के लिए विद्वान बनने की इच्छा त्यागनी पड़ती है। नवयुवक बोला, आप कैसी बात कर रहे हैं?

उस व्यक्ति ने कहा, मैं ठीक कह रहा हूं, महान बनने के लिए छोटा और विद्वान बनने के लिए विद्यार्थी बनना पड़ता है।

आप ने तो मेरी आंखें खोल दीं। लगता है आप कोई महापुरुष हैं या फिर विद्वान। वह व्यक्ति बोला, नहीं मैं कुछ नहीं, मगर मैनें लोगों को बनाया है। बड़ी ही अजीब बात है आप दूसरों को महान और विद्वान बना सकते हैं तो खुद क्यों नहीं बन जाते?

तब उस व्यक्ति का उत्तर था कि, क्यों कि मैं एक अध्यापक हूं।

A young man considered to be great. After getting university education, he read about great people. Someone gave the gurmantra – it is necessary to be in touch with great people to become great.

Now the young man started living in touch with all the people who were great writers, artists, leaders, thinkers and scientists, but that young man had seen some fault in everyone. Seeing all this, he got frustrated and left the city on a deserted road.

It was unacceptable that he met a gentleman of a middle-aged man on that road. He asked the young man the reason of disappointment. The young man said it. What should I do if I want to become both scholar and great?

Then the person replied that the desire to become great and to become a scholar is to abandon the desire to become a scholar. The young man said, what are you talking about?

The person said, I am right, to become great, students have to become short and scholar.

You opened my eyes. It seems you are a great man or a scholar. That person said, no I am nothing, but I have made people. It is very strange that you can make others great and scholar, then why do not you become yourself?

Then the person’s answer was that, because I am a teacher.
