सिर्फ ऐसी ही मिल सकेगी जल्द सफलता

एक पुजारी कई दिनों से यज्ञ कर रहे था, लेकिन उन्हें अग्निदेव के दर्शन नहीं दे रहे थे। तभी उस गांव में राजा विक्रमादित्य पहुंचे। पुजारी का उतरा चेहरा देखकर उन्होंने उसका हाल-चाल पूछा। राजा उसकी परेशानी समझ चुके थे।

फिर राजा ने समझाया, ‘यज्ञ ऐसे नहीं करते हैं।’ राजा ने अपना मुकुट उतार कर जमीन पर रखा और संकल्प लिया, ‘यदि आज शाम तक अग्निदेव प्रकट नहीं हुए। तो आज से मैं मुकुट धारण नहीं करूंगा। चाहे प्रजा में कितना भी अनाचार फैल जाए।’

राजा की यह प्रतिज्ञा सुन प्रजावत्सल अग्निदेव चिंतित हो गए। वे शाम से पहले ही प्रकट हो गए। पुजारी ने उन्हें प्रणाम किया। और उनसे कहा, ‘मैं इतने दिनों से प्रयत्न कर रहा था, तब आप क्यों नहीं आए? जबकि राजा के मुकुट उतारते ही आप स्वयं प्रकट हो गए।’

अग्निदेव बोले, ‘वास्तव में राजा ने जो किया वह दृढ़ता और संकल्प से किया। दृढ़ता और संकल्प से किया गया कार्य सदा ही जल्दी ही सफलता मिलती है। इसीलिए में तत्काल प्रकट हो गया।’
