एक बार मथुरा के निकट एक गाँव में एक छोटी लड़की रहती थी। वृन्दावन के निकट होने के कारण वहां से बहुत लोग ठाकुर जी के दर्शन को जाते थे। जब वो छोटी बच्ची 5 साल की हुई तो उसके घर वाले बांके बिहारी जी के दर्शन के लिए जा रहे थे। उस समय वाहन बहुत कम थे। उनको दर्शन को जाते देख उस छोटी लड़की ने कहा “पिताजी मुझे भी अपने साथ ठाकुर जी के दर्शन के लिए ले चलो” पिताजी ने कहा बेटा अभी आप छोटे हो इतना चल नहीं पाओगे थोडा बड़ा हो जाओ तब तुम्हें साथ में ले चलेंगे। कुछ समय बीता जब वो 7 साल की हुई तो फिर घरवालों का किसी कारणवश वृन्दावन जाना हुआ। फिर उस बच्ची ने कहा “पिताजी अब मुझे भी साथ ले चलो ठाकुर जी के दर्शन के लिए।” लेकिन किसी कारणवश वो उसको न ले जा सके। बच्ची के मन में ठाकुर जी के प्रति बहुत प्रगाढ़ प्रेम था। वह बस उनका मन से चिंतन करती रहती थी और दुखी भी होती थी की ठाकुर जी के दर्शन को न जा सकी आज तक। गाँव में उसके सभी सहपाठी प्रभु जी के दर्शन कर चुके थे। जब वो सब ठाकुर जी के मंदिर और उनके रूप का वर्णन करते तो इस बच्ची के मन में दर्शन की ललक और भी बढ़ जाती।

समय अपने पंख लगा के बढ़ता गया। कही अवसर मिले जाने के पर शायद उसके भाग्य में ठाकुर जी के दर्शन नहीं लिखे थे। जब वो 17 साल की हुई तो उसके पिताजी कोे उसके विवाह की चिंता हो गयी। उसका विवाह तय हो गया सयोंग कहो कि उसकी ठाकुर जी के प्रति प्रेम के कारण उसका विवाह वृन्दावन के सबसे पास वाले गाँव में हो गया।

वह लड़की बहुत प्रसन्न थी की अब तो उसको भी ठाकुर जी के दर्शन होंगे। जब विवाह संपन्न हुआ तो वह अपने ससुराल गयी। फिर रस्म निभाने के लिए वापस अपने घर आई।

एक दो दिन बाद वो और उसके पति जब वापस अपने घर जा रहे तो बीच में यमुना नदी पर उसके पति बोला

“तुम कुछ देर इधर बैठो में यमुना में स्नान करके आता हूँ।”

उस लड़की का चिंतन अब ठाकुरजी की तरफ चला गया और सोचने लगी की कब ठाकुर जी के दर्शन होंगे। उस लड़की ने लंबा घूँघट निकाल रखा है, क्योकि गाँव है, ससुराल है, और वही बैठ गई। फिर वो मन ही मन विचार करने लगी ‘कि देखो!

ठाकुरजी की कितनी कृपा है। उन्हें मैंने बचपन से भजा और दर्शन के लिए लालायित थी, उनकी कृपा से अब मेरा विवाह श्रीधाम वृंदावन में ही हो गया।

पर मैं इतने सालों से ठाकुरजी को मानती हूँ पर अब तक उनसे कोई भी रिश्ता नहीं जोड़ा ?” फिर सोचने लगी “ठाकुरजी की उम्र क्या हो सकती है ? “मेरे हिसाब से लगभग 17 वर्ष के ही होंगे, मेरे पति 21 वर्ष के है, उनसे थोड़े ही छोटे होंगे, इसलिए वो मेरे पति के छोटे भाई की तरह हुए तो मेरे देवर की तरह, लो आज से ठाकुरजी मेरे देवर होंगे।” अब तो ठाकुरजी से नया सम्बन्ध जोड़कर उसको बहुत प्रसन्नता हुई और मन ही मन ठाकुरजी से कहने लगी “ठाकुर जी ! आज से मै आपकी भाभी और आप मेरे देवर हो गए, पर वो समय कब आएगा जब आप मुझे भाभी – भाभी कह कर पुकारोगे ?”

जब वो किशोरी ये सब सोच ही रही थी तभी एक किशोरवस्था का सवांला सा लड़का उधर आ गया और कहने लगा “भाभी-भाभी” लडकी अचानक अपने भाव से बाहर आई और सोचने लगी “वृंदावन में तो मै नई हूँ ये भाभी कहकर कौन बुला रहा है ?” वो नई थी इसलिए घूँघट उठाकर भी नहीं देखा कि गाँव के किसी बड़े-बूढ़े ने देख लिया तो बड़ी बदनामी होगी । जब वह बालक बार – बार कहता पर वह उत्तर ही न देती। बालक उसके और पास आया और कहा “ भाभी! नेक अपना चेहरा तो देखाय दे”। अब वह सोचने लगी “ अरे ये बालक तो बहुत जिद कर रहा है।” इसलिए उसने और कस के अपना घूँघट पकड़कर बैठ गई कि कही घूँघट उठाकर देख न ले।

“भाभी आपने ये पर्दा क्यों कर रखा हैं हम तो आपके देवर है।

उस लड़की ने उसको एक नज़र देखा फिर कहा “नही हम आपको नहीं जानते” और घूँघट ओढ़ लिया।

“नहीं नहीं हम आपको जानते है आप उस गाँव के हो न बस कुछ ही दूर में हमारा घर है। भाभी अपना चेहरा तो दिखाओ।

“जब कह दिया न हम आपको नहीं जानते, इनको पता चल गया तो बहुत मार पड़ेगी”

“भाभी आप तो नाराज़ हो रही हो, देखो हम आपके इतने प्यारे देवर है आप से मिलने के लिए इतनी दूर तक आ गए और आप हो की बात भी नहीं कर रहे हो। क्यों आप हम से मिलना नहीं चाहते थे।

और इतना कहते ही उस लड़के ने घूंघट खींच लिया और चेहरा देखा और भाग गया। थोड़ी देर में उसका पति भी आ गया, उसने अपने पति को सब बात कही।

पति बोला – “चिंता मत करो,वृंदावन बहुत बड़ा थोड़े ही है ,कभी भी किसी गली में लड़का मिल गया तो हड्डी – पसली एक कर दूँगा। फिर कभी भी ऐसा नहीं कर सकेगा। तुम्हे जब भी और जहाँ भी दिखे, मुझे जरुर बताना।” फिर दोनों घर चले गए।

कुछ दिन बाद उसकी सासु माँ ने अपने बेटे से कहा – “बेटा ! देख तेरा विवाह हो गया अब बहू मायके से भी आ गई, पर तुम दोनों अभी तक बाँके बिहारीजी के दर्शन के लिए नहीं गए कल तुम जाकर बहू को ठाकुरजी के दर्शन कराकर लाना।” अगले दिन दोनों पति और पत्नी ठाकुर जी के दर्शन के लिए मंदिर जाते है। मंदिर में बहुत भीड़ थी, लड़का कहने लगा – “ देखो ! तुम स्त्रियों के साथ आगे जाकर दर्शन करो, में आता हूँ”। जब वो आगे गई पर घूंघट नहीं उठाती उसको डर लगता कोई बडा-बुढा देखेगा तो कहेगा की नई बहू घूँघट के बिना ही घूम रही है। बहूत देर हो गई तो पीछे से पति ने आकर कहा “अरी बाबली! ठाकुरजी सामने है, घूँघट काहे को नाय खोले, घूँघट नाय खोलेगी तो प्रभुजी के दर्शन कैसे करेगी ?”

अब उसने अपना घूँघट उठाया और जो बाँके बिहारी जी की ओर देखा तो बाँके बिहारी जी कि जगह वो ही बालक मुस्कुराता हुआ दिखा तो वह चिल्लाने लगी “सुनिये ओजी जल्दी आओ ! जल्दी आओ !”

पति जल्दी से भागा – भागा आया और बोला “क्या हुआ ?” लड़की बोली “ उस दिन जो मुझे भाभी-भाभी कह कर भागा था न वह लड़का मिल गया”।

पति ने कहा ‘कहाँ है? अभी उसे देखता हूँ बता तो जरा”। उसने ठाकुर जी की ओर इशारा करके बोली – ‘ये रहा, आपके सामने ही तो है’। उसके पति ने जब देखा तो अवाक ही रह गया और वही मंदिर में ही अपनी पत्नी के चरणों में गिर पड़ा और बोला “तुम बहुत ही धन्य हो वास्तव में तुम्हारे ह्रदय में सच्चाभाव ठाकुरजी के प्रति है। हम इतने वर्षों से वृंदावन में है पर आज तक हमें उनके दर्शन नहीं हुए और तेरा भाव इतना उच्च है कि ठाकुर जी ने तुझे दर्शन दे दिए।”

ठाकुर जी से सच्ची प्रेम से जो भी रिश्ता करो तो ठाकुर जी उसे जरूर निभाते है, जैसे इस कहानी में ठाकुरजी ने देवर का सबंध निभाया .

Once upon a time there lived a little girl in a village near Mathura. Being close to Vrindavan, many people used to go to see Thakur ji from there. When that little girl turned 5 years old, her family members were going to see Banke Bihari ji. Vehicles were few at that time. Seeing them going to the darshan, the little girl said, “Dad, take me with you to see Thakur ji.” Dad said, son, you are small now, you will not be able to walk so much, grow up a bit, then we will take you along. Some time passed when she turned 7 years old, then the family members had to go to Vrindavan for some reason. Then the girl said, “Dad, now take me with you to see Thakur ji.” But for some reason he could not take her. The girl had a very strong love for Thakur ji. She just kept on contemplating them with her heart and was also sad that she could not go to Thakur ji’s darshan till today. All his classmates in the village had seen Prabhu ji. When all of them would describe Thakur ji’s temple and his form, then the yearning for darshan in the mind of this girl would have increased even more.
Time kept on spreading its wings. On getting some opportunity, perhaps Thakur ji’s darshan was not written in his fate. When she turned 17, her father got worried about her marriage. Her marriage was fixed Sayong Kaho that because of her love for Thakur ji, she got married in the nearest village of Vrindavan.
The girl was very happy that now she too will have darshan of Thakur ji. When the marriage was over, she went to her in-laws’ house. Then she came back to her house to perform the rituals.
After a day or two, when she and her husband were going back to their home, her husband said on the Yamuna river in the middle.
“You sit here for a while, I come after taking a bath in the Yamuna.”
The thought of that girl now went towards Thakurji and started thinking that when will Thakurji have darshan. That girl has removed the long veil, because there is a village, there is an in-laws house, and she sat down. Then she started thinking to herself, ‘Look!
What is the grace of Thakurji? I had longed to worship him and have darshan since childhood, by his grace now I got married in Shridham Vrindavan.
But I believe in Thakurji for so many years but till now I have not made any relation with him? Then started thinking “What can be Thakurji’s age? “According to me, he will be about 17 years old, my husband is 21 years old, he will be a little younger than him, so if he is like my husband’s younger brother, then he will be like my brother-in-law, from today Thakurji will be my brother-in-law.” Now he was very happy to have a new relationship with Thakurji and started saying to Thakurji in his heart, “Thakur ji! From today I have become your sister-in-law and you are my brother-in-law, but when will that time come when you will call me as sister-in-law?
While the girl was thinking all this, then a young boy came over there and said, “Sister-in-law.” The girl suddenly came out of her senses and started thinking, “I am new in Vrindavan, who is calling this sister-in-law.” is ?” She was new, so she did not even lift the veil and saw that if any elder of the village saw it, it would be a big slander. When that child would repeatedly say but she would not answer at all. The boy came to her and said, “Sister-in-law! Good see your face. Now she started thinking, “Hey this boy is very stubborn.” Therefore, holding her veil more tightly, she sat down so that she could not see it by lifting the veil.
“Sister-in-law, why have you kept this veil, we are your brothers-in-law.
The girl took a look at him then said “no we don’t know you” and put on a veil.
“No no, we know you are from that village, nor is our house just a short distance away. Show your face sister-in-law.
“When we have said that we do not know you, if they come to know, then they will be killed a lot”
“Sister-in-law, you are getting angry, look, we have come so far to meet you, you are such a dear brother-in-law and you are not even talking about you. Why didn’t you want to meet us?
And after saying this, the boy pulled off the veil and saw his face and ran away. After a while her husband also came, she told everything to her husband.
Husband said – “Don’t worry, Vrindavan is very big, whenever I find a boy in any street, I will make bone and rib one. Will never be able to do this again. Let me know whenever and wherever you see it.” Then both went home.
After a few days his mother-in-law said to her son – “Son! Seeing you got married, now the daughter-in-law has also come from the maternal home, but both of you have not yet gone to see Banke Bihariji, tomorrow you go and bring the daughter-in-law to Thakurji’s darshan. The next day both husband and wife go to the temple to have darshan of Thakur ji. There was a lot of crowd in the temple, the boy started saying – “Look! Go ahead with you women and have darshan, I will come”. When she went ahead but did not lift the veil, she was afraid that someone old and old would see her, then she would say that the new daughter-in-law is roaming without the veil. It was too late, then the husband came from behind and said, “Oh Babbali! Thakurji is in front, if she opens her veil, then how will she see the Lord?
Now she lifted her veil and looked at Banke Bihari ji and saw the same child smiling at the place of Banke Bihari ji, then she started shouting, “Listen oji, come soon! Come fast !”

The husband ran quickly – came running and said “What happened?” The girl said “that day the boy who ran away calling me sister-in-law and sister-in-law was not found”.
The husband said, ‘Where is it? Now let me see him, then tell me. Pointing towards Thakur ji, he said – ‘Here it is, it is in front of you’. When her husband saw this, he was speechless and fell at the feet of his wife in the temple itself and said, “You are very blessed, in fact you have true feelings towards Thakurji in your heart. We have been in Vrindavan for so many years but till today we have not seen him and your feeling is so high that Thakur ji has given you darshan.
Whatever relationship you have with Thakur ji with true love, Thakur ji definitely plays it, just like in this story Thakur ji played the relation of brother-in-law.
