सुखी दांपत्य का रहस्य

प्राचीनकाल में भी अंधविश्वासी लोग कार्यसिद्धि के लिए तंत्र-मंत्र का सहारा लेने से नहीं हिचकिचाते थे। शायद उस समय भी पति या पत्नी को वश में करने के लिए ऐसे उपायों का दावा किया जाता होगा।

महाभारत में एक कथा आती है। एक बार श्रीकृष्ण की पत्नी सत्यभामा तथा द्रोपदी एकांत में बैठी बातें कर रही थीं। अचानक सत्यभामा ने पूछा, ‘सखी द्रोपदी, तुम्हारे पति कभी तुम पर क्रोध नहीं करते, उनमें ईर्ष्याभाव नहीं देखा जाता।

वे सब के सब कैसे तुम्हारे वश में रहते हैं? क्या इसके लिए तुमने किसी व्रत, तप या जप का उपयोग किया है? किसी मंत्र, अंजन या जड़ी-बूटी का सहारा लिया? मुझे इसका रहस्य बताओ।

द्रोपदी ने कहा, ‘बहन, तुम मुझसे ऐसा विचित्र प्रश्न क्यों कर रही हो? मैं तुम्हें एक रहस्य की बात बताती हूँ कि कभी भी तंत्र-मंत्र का सहारा नहीं लेना चाहिए।

यदि पति को पता चल जाए कि मेरी पत्नी तंत्र-मंत्र का प्रयोगकर वश में करने का प्रयास कर रही है, तो वह चिंतित रहने लगता है और फिर घर की सुख-शांति ही विदा हो जाती है।

द्रोपदी ने आगे बताया, ‘अहंकार, क्रोध व वासना से दूर रहकर मैं पांडवों की सेवा करती हूँ। कभी अप्रिय वचन नहीं बोलती और सबका मान रखती हूँ।

मैं अतिथियों के सत्कार के लिए तत्पर रहती हूँ और पति को दान के पुण्य कार्य से रोकने का प्रयास नहीं करती। इन सब सहज कार्यों से पति सदैव प्रसन्न रहते हैं।

द्रोपदी के मुख से ये वचन सुनकर सत्यभामा बोली, ‘बहन ये सब तो मैंने सहज जिज्ञासावश तुमसे पूछा। मेरे प्रियतम श्रीकृष्ण तो हर क्षण मुझसे बड़ा प्रेम करते हैं।

English Translation

Even in ancient times, superstitious people did not hesitate to resort to tantra-mantras for accomplishment. Perhaps even at that time such measures would have been claimed to subdue the husband or wife.

There is a story in Mahabharata. Once, Sri Krishna’s wife Satyabhama and Draupadi were sitting in solitude talking. Suddenly Satyabhama asked, ‘Friend Draupadi, your husband never gets angry with you, jealousy is not seen in him.

How do they all live under your control? Have you used any fasting, penance or chanting for this? Have you resorted to any mantra, anjan or herbs? Tell me the secret of this.

Draupadi said, ‘Sister, why are you asking me such a strange question? Let me tell you one secret thing that one should never resort to tantra-mantras.

If the husband comes to know that my wife is trying to control by using tantra-mantra, then he starts worrying and then the happiness and peace of the house disappears.

Draupadi further said, ‘I serve the Pandavas by staying away from ego, anger and lust. Never speak unpleasant words and respect everyone.

I am ready to welcome the guests and do not try to stop my husband from doing the virtuous act of charity. Husband is always happy with all these simple works.

Hearing this word from Draupadi’s mouth, Satyabhama said, ‘Sister, I asked you all this out of natural curiosity. My dearest Shri Krishna loves me very much every moment.
