एक बार की बात है बादशाह अकबर का दरबार लगा था। जिसमे अकबर ने कहा की आलू सब्जियों में बहुत प्रयोग किया जाता है आलू सब्जियों का राजा है कौन ऐसा व्यक्ति होगा जिसको आलू पसंद नहीं होगा। आलू को हम बार बार खा सकते है। दरबार में उपस्थित सभी लोग बादशाह अकबर के समर्थन में बोलने लगे लेकिन बीरबल चुप थे।

अकबर ने पूछा बीरबल क्या तुम मेरी बात से सहमत नहीं हो। बीरबल ने कहा महाराज आलू सब्जियों में बहुत प्रयोग अवशय किया जाता है लेकिन बहुत सी सब्जियां है जिसका प्रयोग हम कर सकते है आप बार बार केवल इसी को नहीं खा सकते।

अकबर ने कहा तुम्हारे पास कोई उत्तर ही नहीं है। अगले दिन की बात है शाम के खाने में अकबर और बीरबल बैठे थे रसोइया खाना लेकर आया जिसको देखकर बादशाह अकबर हैरान हो गए क्योंकि खाने में सभी भोजन आलू का ही बना हुआ था।

अकबर ने गुस्से में बोलते हुए कहा की यह सब पकवान केवल आलू का ही क्यों बना हुआ है चिकन कबाब कहा है। रसोइए ने कहा हजूर आपको आलू बहुत पसंद है इसलिए सभी भोजन केवल आलू का बना है।

अकबर ने कहा तुमको यह बनाने को किसने बोला तो बीरबल ने कहा की यह सब मैंने बनाने के लिए बोला था क्योंकि आपने बोला था की मै बार बार आलू खा सकता हूँ। अकबर ने ठीक है मै मानता हूँ की आलू मुझे पसंद है लेकिन में केवल यही नहीं खा सकता।

इसके कुछ दिन बाद बादशाह अकबर अपने मंत्रियो और बीरबल के साथ बगीचे के तालाब के नज़दीक घूम रहे थे। एक दासी एक छोटे बच्चे को हाथ में लिए थी जो की अकबर का बेटा था। अकबर वही टहल रहे थे की तभी बच्चा दासी के हाथ से तालाब में गिर गया वह चिल्लाई राजकुमार पानी में गिर गया।

सभी हड़बड़ाए अकबर तुरंत बच्चे को बचाने के लिए पानी में कूद गए। वह उसको बाहर निकाल लाये जिसके बाद उनने कपड़ा हटा कर देखा तो उसमे राजकुमार की जगह खिलौना था यह किसने हमारे साथ मजाक किया है।

इस पर राजा ने बोला की जब मेरा बेटा पानी में गिर गया तो मै किसी और को बोलूँगा की खुद उसको बचाने जाऊंगा तुम कैसी बात कर रहे हो। बीरबल ने बोला इसी तरह हमारे धर्म में भी जब किसी व्यक्ति को मुसीबत आती है तो भगवान खुद उसको बचाने आते है किसी और को भेजने की बजाय।

अकबर बीरबल की बात समझ चुके थे। बीरबल ने कहा राजकुमार बिलकुल सुरक्षित है और मै इस सबके लिए आपसे माफ़ी मांगता हूँ।

English Translation

Once upon a time, the court of Emperor Akbar was held. In which Akbar said that potato is used a lot in vegetables, potato is the king of vegetables, who would be such a person who would not like potatoes. We can eat potatoes again and again. Everyone present in the court started speaking in support of Emperor Akbar but Birbal was silent.

Akbar asked Birbal, do you not agree with me? Birbal said, Sir, potatoes are used a lot in vegetables, but there are many vegetables which we can use, you cannot eat only this again and again.

After this, Akbar told Birbal that you do not know what is the problem with me, you have to cut my words, I could not understand you nor your Hindu religion, in which it is said that God himself has created the world, but someone has trouble. If it comes, then he comes to the earth to save himself, why doesn’t he send someone else. Birbal said, I will give you the answer in a few days.

Akbar said you have no answer. It is the matter of the next day that Akbar and Birbal were sitting in the evening dinner, the cook brought the food, seeing which Emperor Akbar was surprised because all the food in the food was made of potatoes.

A few days later, Emperor Akbar was walking near the garden pond with his ministers and Birbal. A maidservant was holding a small child who was the son of Akbar. Akbar was walking when the child fell from the hand of the maidservant into the pond, she cried, the prince fell into the water.

All in a panic, Akbar immediately jumped into the water to save the child. He brought him out, after which he removed the cloth and saw that instead of the prince, there was a toy in it, who has joked with us.

Birbal said, ‘Hazur, this has been done on my request. Akbar said that if you do not give any specific reason for this, then you will have to face the punishment. Birbal said, first of all, tell me why you did not send someone else to save the prince when he fell into the water, why did you go yourself.

On this the king said that when my son fell in the water, I will tell someone else that I will go to save him myself, what are you talking about. Birbal said similarly in our religion also when a person faces trouble, God himself comes to save him instead of sending someone else.

Akbar had understood Birbal’s point. Birbal said that the prince is absolutely safe and I apologize to you for all this.
