विद्वान ने बच्चों को इसलिए दिए थे चार रत्न

एक विद्वान ने मरते समय अपने बच्चों को बुलाया और कहा- मैं तुम्हें चार-चार रत्न देकर मरना चाहता हूं। मुझे उम्मीद है कि तुम इन्हें संभालकर रखोगे और इन रत्नों से अपना जीवन सुखी बनाओगे।

पहला रत्न मैं क्षमा का देता हूं- तुम्हारे प्रति कोई कुछ भी कहे, तुम उसे भुलाते रहो। कभी उसके प्रतिकार का विचार अपने मन में न लाओ।

प्रतिकार का विचार क्रोध को जन्म देता है। क्रोध मनुष्य को अंधा बना देता है। क्रोध के अधीन होकर वह उचित, अनुचित, सत्य, असत्य, भले-बुरे का अंतर नहीं समझ पाता। क्रोध को त्याग कर अपने-अपने स्वभाव में रहना क्षमा है। क्षमा अपनाओगे तो दुर्घटनाओं से बचे रहोगे।

विद्वान ने दूसरा रत्न निरहंकार(उपकार करके भूल जाना) का देते हुए समझाया कि अपने द्वारा किए गए उपकार को भूल जाना चाहिए। कभी ऐसा मत सोचना कि मैं तो सबका भला करता हूं पर मेरे साथ वो लोग अच्छा करेंगे या नहीं? इस संसार में सभी जीव एक दूसरे पर निर्भर हैं। बिना परस्पर सहयोग के जीवन नहीं चल सकता। इसलिए अगर आज तुमने किसी के लिए कुछ किया है तो यह तय है कि कभी तुम्हें भी उसकी जरूरत हो सकती है।

तीसरा रत्न है विश्वास। यह बात अपने हृदय में अंकित रखना कि ईश्वर पर ही नहीं हर एक को दूसरे पर विश्वास रखना चाहिए। सभी की भावनाओं की कद्र करनी चाहिए। विश्वास की डोर टूटते ही संबंधों में दूरियां पैदा हो जाती हैं।

अंत में वैराग्य रूपी चौथा रत्न देते हुए उन्होंने कहा- यह हमेशा ध्यान में रखना कि एक दिन सबको मरना है। इसलिए जीवन को संपूर्णता से जिओ।
