आचरण के बिना व्यर्थ

दार्शनिक राष्ट्रपति डॉ. सर्वपल्ली राधाकृष्णन स्वयं शिक्षक रहे थे। वह कहा करते थे, वही शिक्षा सार्थक कही जाएगी, जो सदाचारी व संस्कारी बनने की प्रेरणा देती है।

संस्कारहीन शिक्षा प्राप्त व्यक्ति को यह विवेक नहीं रहता कि क्या करने में कल्याण है। इसलिए शिक्षा के साथ-साथ आचरण की शुचिता पर आवश्य ध्यान देना चाहिए।

रावण ने सोने की लंका बनाई। उसने विशाल भवन में अनेक शालाओं का निर्माण कराया। एक दिन उसकी इच्छा हुई कि कोई मुनि लंका का अवलोकन कर उसकी उपलब्धियों का बखान करे।

रावण ने कुकुत मुनि को सादर आमंत्रित करते हुए कहा, ‘आपके चरण मेरे महल में पड़ने चाहिए। उसकी दिव्यता और उपलब्धियों को देखकर आप स्वतः मुझे आशीर्वाद देने को तत्पर होंगे।’

मुनि ने आमंत्रण स्वीकार कर लिया। जब वह लंका पहुँचे तो रावण ने उन्हें निरीक्षण कराते हुए कहा, ‘यह अस्त्रशाला है, इसमें तरह-तरह के आधुनिक शस्त्रास्त्र हैं।

यह चिकित्सालय है, यहाँ रोगों के निवारण के लिए तरह-तरह की औषधियाँ हैं। इस जगह मेरे इष्टदेव भगवान् शंकरजी की स्मृति में हर समय गायन वादन चलता रहता है।’

मुनि का ध्यान बरबस मदिरालय की ओर गया। वह समझ गए कि यह रावण की असुरता का प्रतीक है। मुनि श्री ने कहा, ‘रावण, तुम्हारे कक्ष में भव्य शस्त्रशाला है,

किंतु इन शस्त्रों का उपयोग किसके विरुद्ध किया जाना चाहिए, क्या इसका विवेक देनेवाली आचरणशाला है?’ मुनि ने उसे चेताते हुए कहा, ‘आचरणहीनता ही तुम्हारी लंका तथा तुम्हारे वंश के समूल नाश का करण बनेगी। कालांतर में मुनि की बात सच हुई।

English Translation

Philosopher President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan himself had been a teacher. He used to say that the same education will be called meaningful, which inspires to become virtuous and cultured.

A person with no culture of education has no conscience as to what is good in doing. Therefore, along with education, due attention should be paid to the purity of conduct.

Ravana built Lanka of gold. He built many schools in a huge building. One day he wished that a sage would see Lanka and tell about his achievements.

Ravana, while cordially inviting Kukut Muni, said, ‘Your feet should fall in my palace. Seeing his divinity and achievements, you will automatically be ready to bless me.

The Muni accepted the invitation. When he reached Lanka, Ravana got him inspected and said, ‘This is an armory, there are various types of modern weapons in it.

This is a hospital, there are different types of medicines for the prevention of diseases. At this place, singing plays in the memory of my presiding deity, Lord Shankarji, goes on all the time.

The sage’s attention went towards Barabas’s liquor house. He understood that it was a symbol of Ravana’s insurgency. Muni Shri said, ‘Ravana, you have a grand armory in your room,

But against whom should these weapons be used, is there a school of conduct that gives wisdom? In course of time the words of the Muni came true.
