ब्रह्मज्ञान की प्राप्ति

धर्मशास्त्रों में कहा गया है कि प्रत्येक प्राणी में परमात्मा के दर्शन करनेवाला और प्रत्येक जीव से प्रेम करनेवाला सच्चा ब्रह्मज्ञानी होता है। एक दिन ब्रह्मनिष्ठ संत उड़िया बाबा गंगा तट पर श्रद्धालुओं को उपदेश दे रहे थे।

उन्होंने अचानक दोनों हाथों से गंगाजी की बालुका (रेती) उठाई और पास बैठे भक्त को संबोधित करते हुए कहा, ‘शांतनु, जब तक यह बालुका साक्षात् ब्रह्म न मालूम पड़े, तब तक यह समझना कि अभी ब्रह्मज्ञान अधूरा है। ब्रह्म-बोध होने पर तो ब्रह्म से पृथक कुछ दिखाई ही नहीं देगा।

उन्होंने आगे कहा, ‘ब्रह्मज्ञानी को तो यह लगने लगता है कि जो कुछ दिख रहा है, सब सच्चिदानंद ब्रह्म ही है। यह संपूर्ण सृष्टि वृंदावन है। प्रत्येक स्त्री राधा और पुरुष कृष्ण हैं। सच्चा ब्रह्मज्ञानी किसी से राग-द्वेष की, उसे दुःखी देखने की कल्पना भी कैसे कर सकता है!

महान् भागवताचार्य स्वामी अखंडानंद सरस्वती भी प्राणी मात्र में भगवान् के दर्शनकर सभी से प्रेम करने की प्रेरणा दिया करते थे । एक दिन स्वामी प्रबुद्धानंदजी ने उनसे पूछ लिया, ‘आप जहाँ विद्वानों से प्रेम करते देखे जाते हैं, वहीं मूर्खों व नास्तिकों को भी प्यार करते हैं-ऐसा भला कैसे संभव है?’

स्वामीजी ने इसके उत्तर में कहा, ‘मुझे ऐसा कभी नहीं लगता कि इस देह के भीतर मैं हूँ और बाहर कोई अन्य। लगता है सब अपना है, इसलिए मैं सभी से एक समान विनयशीलता का व्यवहार करता हूँ।

स्वामीजी हमेशा यह कहा करते थे कि कभी किसी का तिरस्कार नहीं करना चाहिए।

English Translation

It is said in the scriptures that there is a true theologian who sees God in every living being and who loves every living being. One day, Odia Baba, a celibate saint, was preaching to the devotees on the banks of the Ganges.

He suddenly picked up the sand of Gangaji with both hands and addressed the devotee sitting nearby and said, ‘Shantanu, until this sand appears to be the real Brahman, understand that the knowledge of Brahman is incomplete. If there is realization of Brahma, then nothing apart from Brahman will be seen.

He further said, ‘The brahmajnani begins to feel that whatever is being seen, all is Satchidananda Brahma. This entire universe is Vrindavan. Every woman is Radha and man is Krishna. How can a true theologian even imagine seeing someone unhappy and unhappy!

The great Bhagwatacharya Swami Akhandanand Saraswati also used to inspire to love everyone by seeing the Lord in a mere creature. One day Swami Prabandhanandji asked him, ‘Where you are seen to love scholars, you also love fools and atheists – how is this possible?’

Swamiji replied, ‘I never feel that I am inside this body and no one else outside. Everyone seems to be their own, so I treat everyone with equal courtesy.

Swamiji always used to say that one should never despise anyone.
