जगत में हर जीव उपयोगी है

बहुत समय पहले की बात है, एक राजा था। एक दिन उसने सोचा, क्यों ने ऐसे जीव-जंतुओं की खोज की जाए जिनकी इस संसार में कोई उपयोगिता ही न हो। उसने अपने दरबारियों से इस बारे में विचार-विमर्श किया।

उसने सभी दरबारियों और सैनिकों को इस काम में लगा दिया। बहुत दिनों तक खोजने के बाद पता चला कि संसार में जंगली मक्खी और मकड़ी बिल्कुल बेकार हैं। उसने उन्हें खत्म करने का आदेश दिया।

कुछ दिनों बाद राजा के राज्य पर किसी अन्य राजा ने आक्रमण कर दिया। राजा अपनी जान बचाकर वहां से भाग निकला। वह थककर एक जंगल में पेड़ के नीचे सो गया। तभी जंगली मक्खी ने उसको काटा तो, राजा की नींद खुल गई।

उसे लगा खुले में सोने से शत्रु उसको मार देंगे तब वह एक गुफा में जाकर सो गया। राजा जैसे ही गुफा में गया, वैसे ही मकडियों के एक झुंड ने गुफा का मुंह जाले से बंद कर दिया। शत्रु के सैनिक राजा को खोजते वहां आए लेकिन गुफा में मकड़ी का जाला देखकर सोचा कि शायद यहां कोई नहीं हैं, यदि होता तो यह जाला टूटा हुआ होता। और वो चले गए।

राजा गुफा के अंदर से यह बात सुन रहा था। तब उसे जंगली मक्खी और मकड़ी की उपयोगिता के बारे में पता चला। इस तरह उस राजा ने फिर कभी भी इस तरह की अजीब घोषणाएं नहीं कीं।

संक्षेप में

इस जीव जगत में जो भी जन्मा है। उसकी कुछ न कुछ उपयोगिता है। इसलिए हम ये सोच लें कि अमुक जीव किसी काम का नहीं तो यह हमारी सबसे बड़ी गलती होगी।

The King was listening to this from inside the cave. Then he got to know about the wild fly and the utility of the spider. In this way the King never again made such strange announcements.
