दूध में चमेली के फूल की तरह रहे गुरु नानक

एक बार गुरु नानक देव मुल्तान पहुंचे। वहां पहले ही अनेक संत धर्म प्रचार में लगे हुए थे। एक संत ने अपने शिष्य के हाथ में दूध से भरा हुआ एक कटोरा गुरु नानक देव को भेजा।

गुरु नानक देव उठे, बाग से चमेली का एक फूल तोड़ा और दूध पर धीरे से टिका दिया। फिर शिष्य को कहा, जाओ और अपने संत को भेंट कर दो।

शिष्य मन ही मन तिलमिलाया। क्यों कि उसे लगा कि नानक देव ने हमारे संत की भेंट को अस्वीकार करके उनका घोर अपमान किया है। शिष्य ने रोष मं कटोरा लाकर अपने संत को थमा दिया।

संत ने उसे शांत किया और बोले कि तुम समझे नहीं , वास्तव में बात इतनी सी है कि मैनें गुरु नानक देव से एक प्रश्न पूछा था और उन्होंने उसका बखूभी उत्तर भेज दिया। मेरा प्रश्न था कि यहां पहले से ही दूध के समान पवित्र चरित्र वाले महात्मा संत विद्यमान हैं, तो आप यहां क्या करने आए हैं और कहां रहेंगे? उन्होंने उत्तर भेजा है कि जिस तरह दूध का फूल ने कुछ नहीं बिगाड़ा, बल्कि इसकी शोभा ही बढ़ाई है। ठीक उसी तरह फूल की भांति में भी यहीं रहूंगा।

गुरू नानक जी ने मौन रहकर भी, अपने विनम्र स्वभाव से संत को इस तरह मुग्ध कर लिया कि संत नानक देव को उसी रोज अपने आश्रम में ले गए।

Once Guru Nanak Dev reached Multan. There were already many saints engaged in the promotion of religion. A saint sent a bowl filled with milk in his disciple’s Guru Nanak Dev.

Guru Nanak Dev got up, broke a flower of jasmine from the garden and kept it slowly on milk. Then the disciple said, go and meet your saint.

The mind of the disciple mind shudders. Because he felt that Nanak Dev had reprimanded him by rejecting his saint’s offer. The disciple brought his saint by bringing a bowl in rage.

The saint quieted him and said that you did not understand, the fact is so much that I had asked a question from Guru Nanak Dev and he sent his best answer. My question was that there are already Mahatma Saints with a holy character like milk, so what have you come here to do and where will you live? They have sent a reply that the way the flower of milk has not spoiled anything, it has increased its beauty. In the same way, I will be in the same way as a flower.

Even after being silent, by his humble nature, Guru Nanak enjoined the Saint so that Saint Nanak Dev took him to his ashram the same day.
