ऐसे करें धूर्त की पहचान

बात मुगलकाल की है। उस समय अकबर का शासन था। अकबर के मंत्री अब्दुल रहीम खानखाना थे। एक दिन एक व्यक्ति ने आकर रहीम के द्वारपाल से कहा, ‘मैं बहुत सिद्ध रसायनी हूं, लोहे से सोना बनाना आता है मुझे और इस बारे में मंत्रीजी से कुछ बातें करना चाहता हूं।’

द्वारपाल ने आकर रहीम को यह संदेश दिया तो रहीम ने उसे बाहर निकाल देने की अनुमति दी। रहीम के एक मित्र ने उनसे कहा, मिल लेने में क्या हर्ज है, हो सकता है वह सचमुच कोई सिद्ध पुरुष हो।

रहीम हंसकर बोले, अगर वह वाकई ऐसी कोई कला जानता, तो इस समय मारा-मारा न फिरता और न ही मेरे पास आता। वह तो मेरे जैसे हजारों आदमियों को अपने वश में रखने की क्षमता प्राप्त कर चुका होता। वह एक धूर्त है और ऐसों से दूर रहना ही बेहतर है।
