राजा भोज के राज्य में जब जटाधारी संत ने किया ‘स्वांग’

एक बहुरूपिए ने राजा भोज के दरबार में आकर राजा से पांच रुपए की याजना की। तब राजा ने कहा कि वे कलाकारों को पुरस्कार दे सकते हैं, दान नहीं। बहुरूपिए ने स्वांग प्रदर्शन के लि तीन दिन की मोहलत दी।

अगले दिन नगर के बाहर टीले पर एक जटाधारी साधू दिखाई दिया। जो शांत बैठा था जिसके आस-पास चरवाहे जमा हो गए। लोगों ने उनसे पूछना चाहा तो वह जटाधारी साधू कुछ नही कहा।

पहले चरवाहों ने उन्हें खाने के लिए कई भोज्य पदार्थ दिए और अगले ही दिन राजा के प्रधानमंत्री ने कई रत्न और राशि पहुंचाई। जब संत ने आंखे नहीं खोलीं तो राजा भोज ही उसके सामने पहुंच गए और लाखों अशर्फियां रख दीं। किंतू तपस्वी मौन ही रहे। इसके घटना के बाद बहुरूपिये ने अपने सफल स्वांग के लिए पांच रुपए मांगे।

तब राजा ने कहा तुम मूर्ख हो क्यों कि तुम्हारे पास धन दौलत की बारिश हो रही थी और तुम पांच रुपए मांग रहे हो। तब बहुरुपिए ने उत्तर दिया स्वांग के समय सारी धन दौलत तुच्छ थी। तब मुझे इस वेश की लाज रखनी चाहिए। लेकिन अब पेट की आग के लिए श्रम का पुरस्कार चाहता हूं।
