अभिमान से नहीं उदारता से करो दान

राजा जानुश्रुति अपने समय के महान दानी थे। एक शाम वह महल की छत पर विश्राम कर रहे थे, तभी सफेद हंसों का जोड़ा आपस में बात करता आकाश-मार्ग से गुजरा।

राजा शर्मिंदा होकर लौट गए कुछ दिन बाद वह खाली हाथ, जिज्ञासु की तरह रैक्व के पास पहुंचे। रैक्व ने राजा की जिज्ञासा देखकर उपदेश दिया कि दान करो, किंतु अभिमान से नहीं उदारता की, अहं से नहीं, उन्मुक्त भाव से दान करो। राजा रैक्व की बात सुनकर प्रभावित हुए और लौट गए।
