संन्यासी की दया भावना

स्वामीजी त्याग की साक्षात् मूर्ति थे। चौबीस घंटे में एक बार किसी घर से भिक्षा प्राप्त करते थे। बाकी समय साधना व लोगों को सदाचार का उपदेश देने में लगाते ।

स्वामी दयानंद ब्रह्मनिष्ठ संत थे । वे प्रायः कहा करते थे कि जो व्यक्ति गरीबों व असहायों से प्रेम करता है, भगवान् उसे अपनी कृपा का अधिकारी बना देते हैं ।

एक बार किसी मजदूर ने उन्हें नंगे पाँव विचरण करते देखकर कपड़े के जूते भेंट किए। उन्होंने उस निश्छल भक्त के जूते खुशी-खुशी स्वीकार कर लिए कुछ वर्ष बाद उनका एक भक्त नए जूते लेकर आया तथा प्रार्थना की कि पुराने जूते उतारकर उसके लाए जूते पहन लें।

स्वामीजी ने जवाब दिया, ‘इन जूतों में मुझे गरीब मजदूर के प्रेम की झलक दिखाई देती है। मैं इन्हें तब तक पहनता रहूँगा, जब तक ये पूरी तरह फट न जाएँ।’

एक बार उनके भक्त शिवरात्रि पर भंडारा कर रहे थे । स्वामीजी प्रवचन में कह रहे थे कि वही सत्कर्म सफल होता है, जिसमें गरीबों के खून-पसीने की कमाई लगती है।

अचानक उन्होंने देखा कि दरवाजे पर कुछ लोग एक वृद्धा को हाथ पकड़कर बाहर निकाल रहे हैं। स्वामीजी ने कहा, ‘माई को आदर सहित यहाँ लाओ। ‘ वृद्धा आई तथा बोली, ‘महाराज, मेरे ये दो रुपए भंडारे में लगवा दें। ये लोग नहीं ले रहे हैं। ‘

स्वामीजी ने भक्त को पास बुलाया और बोले, ‘इन दो रुपए का नमक मंगवाकर भंडारे में लगवा दो । खून-पसीने की ईमानदारी की कमाई के नमक से भंडारा भगवान् का प्रसाद बन जाएगा।’

English Translation

Swami Dayanand Giri was a celibate saint. He often used to say that the person who loves the poor and the helpless, the Lord makes him worthy of His grace.

Swami ji was an embodiment of disinterest. He used to receive alms from a house once in twenty four hours. The rest of the time was spent in spiritual practice and preaching virtue to the people.

Once, seeing him walking barefoot, a laborer presented him with cloth shoes. He happily accepted the shoes of that sincere devotee. After a few years one of his devotees came with new shoes and prayed that he should take off the old shoes and put on the shoes brought by him.

Swamiji replied, ‘In these shoes I see a glimpse of the poor laborer’s love. I will keep wearing them till they are completely torn apart.’

Once his devotees were doing bhandara on Shivratri. Swamiji was saying in the discourse that the same good deeds are successful, in which the blood and sweat of the poor are earned.

Suddenly he saw some people at the door holding an old lady by her hand and taking her out. Swami ji said, ‘Bring Mai here with respect. ‘ The old lady came and said, ‘Sir, get my two rupees in the Bhandara. These people are not taking ‘

Swami ji called the devotee near and said, ‘Get these two rupees salt and put it in the bhandara. Bhandara will become God’s prasad with the salt of honest earnings of blood and sweat.
