तो ये थे सबसे बड़े ज्ञानी

यूनान में डेल्फी देवी की बहुत मान्यता है। कहते हैं कि यह देवी लोगों द्वारा पूछे गए प्रश्नों के सही उत्तर देती हैं। एक बार किसी ने पूछा कि देवी, यूनान में सबसे बड़ा ज्ञानी कौन ? देवी ने उत्तर दिया कि सुकरात।

वह आदमी सुकरात के पास गया और बोला डेल्फी देवी ने कहा है कि आप सबसे अधिक बुद्धिमान हैं । मैं आपको प्रणाम करता हूं। सुकरात ने कहा, देवी से कुछ भूल हुई है। जाओ फिर पूछो कि सबसे बड़ा ज्ञानी कौन है ?

वह आदमी फिर से देवी के पास गया और देवी से पूछा लेकिन फिर से देवी ने सबसे बड़ा ज्ञानी सुकरात को ही बताया। वह आदमी फिर सुकरात के पास गया।

सुकरात उसकी बात सुनकर बोले, अगर तुम कुछ वर्ष पहले आते तो मैं तुम्हारी बात मान लेता कि मैं ही सबसे बड़ा ज्ञानी हूं। लेकिन अब तो मुझे अपने अज्ञान का पता लग गया है। अतः यह स्वीकार नहीं करता कि मैं ही सबसे बड़ा ज्ञानी हूं।

वह आदमी परेशान हो गया और सोचने लगा कि, दोनों में कोई एक तो झूठ बोल रहा है। वह जानने के लिए, फिर देवी के पास गया तो देवी ने सारी बात सुनकर कहा, मैं सच कह रही हूं सुकरात ही सबसे बड़ा ज्ञानी है। जिस व्यक्ति को अपने अज्ञान का पता चल जाए, वही सबसे बड़ा ज्ञानी होता है।

The man got upset and started thinking that either one of them is lying. To know that, then went to the Goddess, then Goddess heard all the talk and said, I am telling the truth that Sukrata is the only major knower. The person who knows his ignorance is the greatest wise person
