वो पाव भर चाय की पत्ती

अब्राहिम लिंकन बचपन में चाय की दुकान पर नौकरी करते थे। एक दिन एक महिला पाव भर चाय की पत्‍ती लेने के लिए आई। जल्दी-जल्दी में लिंकन ने उसे एक पाव की जगह आधा पाव चाय पत्‍ती तौल कर दे दी।

रात्रि को जब लिंकन ने हिसाब किया, तो पता चला कि उस महिला ने पाव भर चाय के पैसे दिए थे, जबकि उन्‍होंने आधा पाव पत्‍ती ही तौल कर दी थी। लिंकन उसी समय आधा पाव चाय की पत्‍ती महिला को देने लिए लालटेन लेकर पैदल चल पड़े।

उस महिला का घर तीन मील दूर था। वहां पहुंचकर लिंकन ने दरवाजा खटखटाया। वह महिला बाहर आई। लिंकन ने कहा क्षमा कीजिए, मैंने गलती से आधा पाव चाय की पत्ती ही तौली थी। बाकी आधा पाव में अभी लेकर आया हूं।

लिंकन की ईमानदारी देखकर महिला की आंखों में आंसू आ गए। उसने आशीर्वाद देते हुए कहा, बेटा तुममें च्चाई है। इसका फल भगवान जरूर देगा। आगे चलकर तेरा नाम होगा। वही, अब्राहिम लिंकन आगे चलकर अमेरिका के राष्ट्रपति बने।
