सही बात की गूंज, देर से सुनाई देती है

बात उस समय की है जब भारत में स्वाधीनता संग्राम चल रहा था। उन दिनों काशी नरेश ने हिंदू समाज की समस्याओं पर एक सम्मेलन बुलाया। उसमें काला कांकर के राजा रामपाल सिंह भी आए। वे एक समाचार पत्र निकालते थे।

राजा साहब ने उपस्थित श्रोताओं का मजाक उड़ाते हुए अपना भाषण शुरु किया। एक युवक को यह बात अच्छी नहीं लगी। युवक ने पास जाकर कहा, ‘आप जनता के लिए असभ्य भाषा का प्रयोग न करें।’ राजा साहब क्रोधित हो गए। उन्हें मंच की गरिमा का भी ध्यान न रहा। इसके बाद उन्होंने और भी ज्यादा अपशब्दों की बारिश कर दी।

किसी को भी राजा साहब के भाषण रोकने की हिम्मत नहीं थी लेकिन उस दिन, उस युवक ने यह कर दिखाया। जब हद से बात पार हो गई, तो वही युवक भरी सभा में उठा और राजा साहब से उसने कहा, ‘यदि खुले मंच पर शिष्टापूर्वक नहीं बोल सकते, तो कृप्या बैठ जाएं।’

यह सुनकर सभी हैरान रह गए, उन्होंने सोचा कि जरूर अब यह व्यक्ति कोप का भाजन बनेगा। लेकिन आश्चर्य राजा साहब चुपचाप मंच से उतरकर उपस्थित लोगों के बीच चले गए। कुछ समय बाद वह युवक को राजा साहब का एक पत्र मिला।

उस पत्र में लिखा था, ‘प्रिय मित्र जो आज तक किसी ने नहीं किया, वह आपने अनुचित कुछ नहीं किया बल्कि मुझे अनुचित करने से रोका था। मैं आपको अपने समचार पत्र के संपादक का पद संभालने के लिए सादर आमंत्रित करता हूं। इस पद पर कोई निष्पक्ष व्यक्ति ही शोभा बढ़ा सकता है और आपमें वो सभी गुण हैं।’

Raja Saheb started his speech while making fun of the present audience. A young man did not like this thing. Nobody had the courage to stop the speech of Raja Sahib, but on that day, that young man did this. When the talk reached the extent, the same man got up in a meeting and said to the King Saheb, ‘If you can not speak rationally on the open platform, then please sit down.’

All were amazed to hear this, they thought that this person would definitely become the master of wrath. But the wonder King Sahab quietly descended from the stage and went among the present. After some time, he got a letter from the King Sahib.

In that letter it was written, ‘Dear friend, no one has done it till now, you did not do anything wrong, but prevented me from doing wrong. I invite you to take over the post of editor of your press letter. In this post, a neutral person can only enhance his beauty and you have all these qualities. ‘
