उदार ह्दय का सबसे सुंदर उदाहरण

हरिद्वार के गुरुकुल कांगड़ी में स्वामी श्रद्धानंद के पास दिल्ली से हकीम अजमल खां, डॉ. अंसारी और कुछ मुस्लिम धर्म के अनुयायी मिलने पहुंचे। गुरुकुल में एक बड़ी यज्ञशाला थी जिसमें उस समय संध्या वंदन और हवन आदि हो रहा था।

मुस्लिम मित्र यज्ञशाला के पास खड़े आश्चर्य से हवन को देखते रहे। हवन समाप्त हुआ। स्वामीजी बड़े प्रेम से अपने इन अतिथियों से मिले। अतिथियों ने कहा, हमारा भी नमाज का समय हो रहा है। कोई स्थान बताइए जहां हम नमाज पढ़ सकें। स्वामीजी ने कहा कि हमारा हवन तो समाप्त हो चुका है, यह यज्ञशाला खाली है। आप यहां नमाज पढ़ सकते हैं।

हकीम अजमल खां और डॉ. अंसारी को इसकी आशा नहीं थी। परंतु स्वामीजी के मन में यह बात थी कि इन लोगों का भी तो ईश्वर की ही उपासना करनी है। यज्ञशाला और किसलिए होती है उपासना करने के लिए?

इसलिए उन्होंने यज्ञशाला में नमाज पढ़ लेने को कहा। मुस्लिम अतिथियों ने बड़े प्रेम से यज्ञशाला में नमाज पढ़ी। उसके बाद गुरुकुल के ब्रह्मचारियों के साथ बैठकर भोजन किया।

यह ह्दय की उदारता और सांप्रदायिक सद्भावना का बहुत ही अच्छा उदाहरण है। इसके सत्य घटना के कुछ दिन बाद ही मुस्लिम भाईयों ने स्वामी श्रद्धानंद को आदर सहित दिल्ली की जामा मस्जिद में बुलाया और उन का प्रवचन कराया।

That is why he asked to read prayers in Yagna. Muslim guests read namaz in a Yajna with great love. After that, sit with the Gurukul’s Brahmins and take food.

It is a good example of heart’s generosity and communal harmony. Shortly after the incident, Muslim brothers called Swami Shraddhanand with respect to the Jama Masjid in Delhi and made a lecture on them.
