संगीत के सुर और भक्ति के भाव

संत ज्ञानेश्वर प्रतिदिन संध्या को स्वरचित भजन गाया करते थे, जिनको सुनने के लिए दूर-दूर से बहुत लोग आया करते थे। उसी सभी में एक गायक भी आया करता था।

एक दिन गायक ने संत ज्ञानेश्वर से कहा, आप बहुत गलत गाते हैं। राग और सुरों का आपको बिल्कुल भी ज्ञान नहीं, बेसुरे संगीत से मुझे बहुत कष्ट होता है। यह बात सुनकर संत ज्ञानेश्वर मुस्कुराए और उन्होंने उस गायक से कहा कि आप रोज मेरे संगीत सभा में गीत गाया करें। गायक बहुत प्रसन्न हुआ और प्रतिदिन भजन गाने लगा।

धीरे-धीरे भजन सुनने वालों की संख्या कम होने लगी। अंत में एक दिन ऐसा आया कि कोई भी भजन सुनने नहीं आया। यह देख कर गायक को बहुत दुःख हुआ। उसने संत ज्ञानेश्वर से पूछा, मैं इतना बड़ा गायक हूं, मैं गाता भी पूरी लय में हूं फिर भी कोई मुझे सुनने नहीं आ रहा है। इसके पीछे क्या कारण हैं?

संत बोले तुम गाते समय केवल सुर और ताल पर ध्यान देते हो, अतः श्रोता केवल सुर और ताल सुनते हैं, में केवल भक्ति भाव पर ध्यान देता हूं। जिसके कारण भक्त, भक्ति भाव में डूब जाता है। भावहीन संगीत भक्त के लिए निरर्थक रहता है। यह सुनकर गायक संत के चरणों में गिर गया और अपनी किए हुए पर क्षमा मांगी।
