परशुराम Parshuram Jayanti

भगवान श्री राम से पहले और वामन भगवान के जन्म से पहले भगवान विष्णु का एक अवतार हुआ था। यह अवतार संसारा में क्रोध का प्रतीक माना जाता है। इन्होंने स्वयं विष्णु के ही दूसरे अवतार को युद्घ के लिए ललकारा था। भगवान विष्णु के इस अवतार का नाम है परशुराम।

शास्त्रों के अनुसार इनका जन्म अक्षय तृतीया के दिन हुआ था जो भगवान विष्णु का प्रिय दिन माना जाता है। मान्यता है कि यह भी हनुमान जी की तरह चिरंजीवी हैं। यह पिता के परम भक्त और माता के प्रिय थे। इसके वावजूद एक बार इन्होंने अपने पिता के कहने से माता का सिर धड़ से अलग कर दिया था।

इस विषय में कथा है कि एक बार इनकी माता रेणुका जल का कलश लेकर नदी पर पानी लेने गई। इन्होंने देखा कि नदी में गंधर्व राज चित्ररथ अप्सराओं के साथ जलक्रीड़ा कर रहे हैं। इसे देखने में रेणुका इतनी तन्मय हो गयी कि जल लाने में विलंब हो गया।

उधर परशुराम के पिता यज्ञ के लिए जल का इंतजार कर रहे थे। लेकिन समय पर जल नहीं मिलने से यज्ञ का शुभ मुहूर्त बीत गया। रेणुका की भूल को जानकर परशुराम के पिता जमदग्नि ने अपने पुत्रों को रेणुका का वध करने के लिए कहा। लेकिन अन्य चार भाईयों ने ऐसा करने से मना कर दिया। लेकिन परशुराम ने पिता की आज्ञा को स्वीकार किया और माँ का वध कर दिया।

पिता जमदग्नि परशुराम से अति प्रसन्न हुए। इन्होंने परशुराम से वरदान मांगने के लिए कहा तो परशुराम ने वरदान स्वरूप माता के पुनः जीवित होने का वरदान मांग लिया। पिता ने प्रसन्न होकर माता को पुनर्जीवित कर दिया और परशुराम को चिरंजीवी होने का वरदान दिया। इसलिए कहा जाता है कि परशुराम जी आज भी जीवित हैं। लेकिन पृथ्वी का दान कर देने के कारण यह पृथ्वी पर निवास नहीं करते हैं।

Parshuram the sixth incarnation of Vishnu is the epitome of valor and devotion towards parents. Once his father, Jamadagni got angry with his wife Renuka and ordered Parshuram to murder her. Parshuram obeyed him and killed his mother. Contented with his act Jamadagni asked his son to ask for anything whatever he wanted. Parshuram asked to bring back his mother to life. It was Parshuram’s cleverness that brought back his mother to life again. In this way Parshuram proved his devotion to his father and mother.
Jamadagni and their Kama Dhenu cow were killed by a kshatriya king, Kartavirya Sahashrarjun. Thus Parshuram vowed to kill all the kshatriyas on this earth and make it free from the autocracy of the kshatriyas. All the kshatriyas fled away due to the terror of him and no one was left to protect this earth. So, Kashyap muni ordered Parshuram to leave the world. Parshuram went to mountain Mahendra and started to live there.

The birthday of Parshuram is celebrated on the 3rd day of Shukla Paksh of Vaishakh month. This day is also known as Parshu Rama Dwadashi and people fast on this day to be blessed with a son. According to Varah Puran, by keeping a fast on this day, the devotee enjoys his stay in Brahmiok and will be reborn to become a great king.

Akshaya Tritiya is another name for the birthday of Lord Parasuram. There is a strong belief that the merits gained by good acts on this day are forever. It is believed that Akshaya Tritiya marks the beginning of the Treta Yug.

Hindus holds major part of population in India. With the revitalization of Hinduism after the medieval period, the birth day of Parshuram regained its importance. Except fasting, procession and satsang is also arranged in most of the towns of Northern India.
