आखिर इंसान क्रोध में क्यों चीखते-चिल्लाते हैं?

एक सिद्ध बौद्ध भिक्षु अपने शिष्यों के साथ नगर भ्रमण पर निकले। उन्होंने देखा कि वहां एक ही परिवार के कुछ लोग आपस में बात करते हुए एक दूसरे पर क्रोधित हो रहे थे।

यह दृश्य देखकर एक शिष्य से रहा नहीं गया। उसने तुरंत बौद्ध भिक्षु से पूछा क्रोध में लोग एक दूसरे पर चिल्लाते क्यों हैं? शिष्य कुछ देर सोचते रहे, तभी एक शिष्य ने उत्तर दिया क्योंकि हम क्रोध में शांति खो देते हैं । पर जब दूसरा व्यक्ति हमारे सामने ही खड़ा है तो भला उस पर चिल्लाने की क्या जरूरत है। जो कहना है वो आप धीमी आवाज में भी तो कह सकते हैं।’

बौद्ध भिक्षु ने फिर से प्रश्न किया तब कुछ और शिष्यों ने भी अपने-अपने विवेक से उत्तर देने का प्रयास किया पर इस जवाब से लोग संतुष्ट नहीं हुए।

तब बौद्ध भिक्षु ने समझाया कि ‘जब दो लोग आपस में नाराज होते हैं तो उनके दिल एक दूसरे से बहुत दूर हो जाते हैं ऐसी परिस्थिति में वह एक दूसरे पर बिना चिल्लाए बात नहीं सुन सकते उनको क्रोध आएगा और उनके बीच की दूरी उतनी ही अधिक हो जाएगी इसलिए वह तेजी से चीखते चिल्लाते हैं।
