प्रथम राष्ट्रपति का कॉलेज का पहला दिन

भारत के पहले राष्ट्रपति डॉ. राजेंद्र प्रसाद जब युवा थे यह प्रसंग उस समय का है। राजेंद्र प्रसाद उस समय कॉलेज में दाखिला लिया। कॉलेज में उनका पहला दिन था। जब वह अपनी कक्षा में पहुंचे तो दंग रह गए। वह इसलिए क्योंकि उन्होंने कुर्ता, धोती और टोपी पहन रखी थी और सारे विद्यार्थी कोंट,शर्ट और पेंट में थे।

उनकी वेशभूषा मुस्लिम छात्रों से मिलती जुलती थी। क्योंकि वह कुर्ता, पजामा और टोपी पहनकर आए हुए थे। उनकी गिनती भी वेशभूषा के चलते मुस्लिम छात्रों में होनें लगी। और उनका उपस्थिति रजिस्टर प्रोफेसर अलग रख देते थे।

एक दिन उनका नाम उपस्थिति लेते समय नहीं बोला गया तब वह स्वयं खड़े होकर पूछने लगे, ‘मेरा नाम नहीं पुकारा गया है सर और आप अपना रजिस्टर बंद कर रहे हैं?’ सभी लड़के उनकी तरफ देख कर काफी तेज आवाज में हंस रहे थे।

तब अध्यापक ने कहा, अभी मैनें मुस्लिम छात्रों की उपस्थिति नहीं लगाई है। तब उन्होंने कहा, ‘नहीं सर में बिहार से हूं। और अभी कॉलेज में दाखिला लिया है।’ प्रोफेसर ने जब उनका नाम सुना तो वो समझ गए यह वही बालक है जिसने कोलकाता विवि का एंट्रेस टेस्ट टॉप किया है। वह अपनी इस गलती के लिए शर्मिंदा थे और फिर कभी भी उन्होंने मुस्लिम छात्रों और अन्य छात्रों में भेदभाव नहीं किया।

He was embarrassed for his mistake and never again did he discriminate between Muslim students and other students.
