जानिए महात्मा गांधी की नजर में धर्म का अर्थ

एक बार महामना मदनमोहन मालवीय, महात्मा गांधी व कुछ अन्य लोग धर्म पर चर्चा कर रहे थे। चर्चा के दौरान मालवीय जी ने गांधीजी से पूछा, ‘बापू आपकी दृष्टि में धर्म क्या है?’

तब गांधीजी बोले, मेरी दृष्टि से धर्म का अर्थ कर्तव्य है। समाज के हर व्यक्ति का अलग धर्म है। सैनिक का धर्म अपने राष्ट्र व समाज की रक्षा करना, भले ही उसके प्राण चले जाएं। वहीं, एक व्यापारी का धर्म पूरी ईमानदारी से उपभोक्ताओं के आवश्यक वस्तुएं उपलब्ध करना है।

तो एक न्यायाधीश का धर्म पूरी ईमानदारी से निष्पक्ष रहकर सभी को न्याय दिलाना है। इसलिए वह निष्पक्ष रहकर सभी न्याय देता है। एक राजा का धर्म पूरी ईमानदारी से प्रजा की सेवा करना होता है, तो प्रजा का धर्म राजा पर पूरी निष्ठा के साथ विश्वास व्यक्त करना होता।

गांधीजी के मुंह से धर्म संबंधित विचारों की ऐसी बातें सुनकर सभी अचंभित रह गए।

Once Mahamana Madan Mohan Malaviya, Mahatma Gandhi and some others were discussing religion. During the discussion, Malviya asked Gandhiji, ‘Bapu what is religion in your eyes?’

Then Gandhiji said, in my view the meaning of religion is duty. Every person of the society has different religion. The religion of the soldier protects his nation and society, even if his life is gone. At the same time, the religion of a businessman is to provide the essential things of the consumer honestly.

So the religion of a judge is to be fair and fair to everyone, to give justice to everyone. That’s why he gives justice to all while remaining fair. The religion of a king is to serve the people wholeheartedly, then the people’s religion had to express faith with the complete allegiance to the king.
