बापू ने बताया दान और व्यापार का महत्व

एक दिन एक व्यक्ति महात्मा गांधी के पास आकर अपना दुःख सुनाने लगा। उसने गांधी जी से कहा कि बापू, यह दुनिया बड़ी बेईमान है।

आप तो यह अच्छी तरह से जानते हैं कि मैनें पचास हजार रुपए दान देकर धर्मशाला बनवाई थी। पर अब उन लोगों ने मुझे ही उसकी प्रबंध समिति से हटा दिया है।

धर्मशाला नहीं थी तो कोई नहीं था, पर अब उस पर अधिकार जताने वाले पचासों लोग खड़े हैं। उस व्यक्ति की बात सुनकर बापू थोड़ा मुस्कुराए और फिर बोले, भाई तुम्हें यह निराशा इसलिए हुई कि तुम दान का सही अर्थ नहीं समझ सके।

वास्तव में किसी चीज को देकर कुछ प्राप्त करने की आकांक्षा दान नहीं हैं। यह तो व्यापार है। तुमने धर्मशाला के लिए दान तो किया, लेकिन फिर तुम व्यापारी की तरह उससे प्रतिदिन लाभ की उम्मीद करने लगे। वह व्यक्ति चुपचाप बिना कुछ बोले वहां से चलता बना। उसे अब दान और व्यापार का अंतर समझ में आ चुका था।
