एक बाप का फैसला

“क्या बताऊँ मम्मी, आजकल तो , बासी कढ़ी में भी उबाल आया हुआ है|
जबसे पापा जी रिटायर हुए है , दोनों लोग फिल्मी हीरो हीरोइन की तरह दिन भर अपने बगीचे में ही झूले पर विराजमान रहते हैं|
न अपने बालों की सफेदी का लिहाज है न बहू बेटे का इस उम्र में दोनों मेरी और नवीन की बराबरी कर रहे हैं|

पर सासू मां, समझदारी दिखाते हुए बहू की इस नाजायज हरकत को नज़र अंदाज़ करते हुए सिर झुकाए वन्हा से निकल गईं|

पति के रिटायर होने के बाद कुछ दिन से उनकी यही दिनचर्या हो गयी थी|
आजकल सासुमा प्रभा जी अपने पति देव अशोक जी को उनकी इच्छानुसार अच्छे से तैयार होकर अपने घर के सबसे खूबसूरत हिस्से में अपने पति देव के साथ झूले में बैठ कर उनको कंपनी देती थी।

प्रभाजी ने सारी उम्र तो उनकी बच्चों के लिए लगा दी थी|

“पार्टनर रिटायरमेंट के बाद दोनों इसी झूले पर साथ बैठेंगे और खाना भी साथ में ही खायेंगे|
आपकी हर शिकायत हम दूर कर देँगे|
फ़िलहाल हमें बच्चों के लिये जीना है|
बच्चों के कैरियर पर बहुत कुछ बलिदान करना पड़ा,
खेर अब बेटा अच्छी नौकरी में था और बेटी भी अपने घर की हो चुकी थी |

रिटायरमेंट के बाद घर में थोड़ी रौनक रहने लगी थी,
अशोक जी को भी घर में रहना अच्छा लग रहा था|
पहले तो बड़े पद पर थे तो कभी उनके कदम घर में टिकते ही नहीँ थे|

लेकिन उनकी बहू सोनम अपने पति नवीन को उसके माता पिता के लिये ताने देने का कोई मौका न छोड़ती|

उसने उस कोने के बागीचे से छुटकारा पाने के लिये नवीन को एक रास्ता सुझाते हुए कहा,”क्योँ न हम बड़ी कार खरीद लें…नवीन”|
“आईडिया तो अच्छा है पर रखेंगे कहाँ एक कार रखने की ही तो जगह है घर में”,नवीन थोड़ा चिंतित स्वर में बोला|

“जगह तो है न, वो गार्डन तुम्हारा..जहाँ आजकल दोनों लव बर्ड्स बैठते हैं।”
सोनम व्यागतमक स्वर में बोली|

“थोड़ा तमीज़ से बात करो,”
नवीन क्रोध से बोला।
लेकिन फिर भी सोनम ने अपने पति को पापा जी से बात करने का मन बना लिया।

अगले दिन नवीन कुछ कार की तस्वीरों के साथ शाम को अपने पिता के पास गया और बोला,
” पापा !मैं और सोनम एक बड़ी गाड़ी खरीदना चाहते हैं “

“पर बेटा एक बड़ी गाड़ी तो घर में पहले ही है, फिर उस नई गाड़ी की रखेंगे भी कहाँ?”
अशोक जी ने प्रश्न किया|
“ये जो बगीचा है यहीँ गैराज बनवा लेंगे वैसे भी सोनम से तो इसकी देखभाल होने से रही और मम्मी कब तक देखभाल करेंगी?
इन पेड़ों को कटवाना ही ठीक रहेगा|
वैसे भी ये सब जड़े मज़बूत कर घर की दीवारें कमज़ोर कर रहें है|”

यह सुनकर प्रभा तो वहीँ कुर्सी पर सीना पकड़ कर बैठ गईं,
अशोक जी ने क्रोध को काबू में करते हुए कहा,
मुझे तुम्हारी माँ से भी बात करके थोड़ा सोचने का मौका दो|
क्या पापा… मम्मी से क्या पूछना ..वैसे भी इस जगह का इस्तेमाल भी क्या है नवीन थोड़ा चिड़चिड़ा कर बोला|
“आप दोनों दिन भर इस जगह बगैर कुछ सोचे समझे,चार लोगों का लिहाज किये बग़ैर साथ में बैठे रहते हैं|
अब आप दोनों कोई बच्चे तो नहीं हो |
लेकिन आप दोनों ने दिन भर झूले पर साथ बैठे रहने का रिवाज बना लिया है और ये भी नहीँ सोचते कि चार लोग क्या कहेंगे|
इस उम्र में मम्मी के साथ बैठने की बजाय आप अपनी उम्र के लोगों में उठा बैठी करेंगे तो वो ज़्यादा अच्छा लगेगा न कि ये सब।”
और वह दनदनाते हुए अंदर चला गया| अंदर सोनम की बड़बड़ाहट भी ज़ारी थी।

अशोक जी कड़वी सच्चाई का एहसास कर रहे थे।

पर आज की बात से तो उनके साथ प्रभा जी भी सन्न रह गईं,
अपने बेटे के मुँह से ऐसी बातें सुनकर दोनों को दिल भर आया था और टूट भी चुका था।
रिटायरमेंट को अभी कुछ ही समय हुआ जो थोड़ा सकून से गुजरा था।
पहले की ज़िन्दगी तो भागमभाग में ही निकल गयी थी, बच्चों के लिए सुख साधन जुटाने में|
अशोक जी आज पूरी रात ऊहापोह में लगे रहे,
कुछ सोचते रहे, कुछ समझते रहे और कुछ योजना बनाते रहे ।
लेकिन सुबह जब वे उठे तब बड़े शांत और प्रसन्न थे।

वे रसोई में गये और खुद चाय बनाई |
कमरे में आकर पहला कप प्रभा को उठा कर पकड़ाया और दूसरा खुद पीने लगे|
आपने क्या सोचा?प्रभा ने रोआंसे लहज़े में पूछा|
मैं सब ठीक कर दूँगा बस तुम धीरज रखो,अशोक बोले| पर हद से ज़्यादा निराश प्रभा उस दिन पौधों में पानी देने भी न निकलीं,और न ही किसी से कोई बात की|

दिन भर सब सामान्य रहा,लेकिन शाम को अपने घर के बाहर To Let का बोर्ड टँगा देख नवीन ने भौंचक्के स्वर में अशोक से प्रश्न किया,”पापा माना कि घर बड़ा है पर ये To Let का बोर्ड किसलिए”?

“पर कहाँ?” “तुम्हारे पोर्शन में”,अशोक जी ने सामान्य स्वर में उत्तर दिया|
नवीन का स्वर अब हकलाने लगा था,”और हम लोग ” “तुम्हे इस लायक बना दिया है दो तीन महीने में कोई फ्लैट देख लेना या कम्पनी के फ्लैट में रह लेना,अपनी उम्र के लोगों के साथ |

हम दोनों भी अपनी उम्र के लोगों में उठे बैठेंगे।
तुम्हारी माँ की सारी उम्र सबका लिहाज़ करने में निकल गयी|

नही बेटा तुम्हारी पीढ़ी ने हमें भी प्रैक्टिकल बनने का सबक दे दिया,
जब हम तुम दोनों को साथ देखकर खुश हो सकते है तो तुम लोगों को हम लोगों से दिक्कत क्योँ है| “?

न बेटा… तुम्हारी मां ने जाने कितने कष्ट सहकर, कितने त्याग कर के मेरा साथ दिया आज इसी के सहयोग से मेरे सिर पर कोई कर्ज़ नहीँ है|
