अहंकार से दूर

सभी धर्मों के आचार्य और दार्शनिक ‘मैं’ अर्थात् अहंकार को ईश्वर साक्षात्कार में सबसे बड़ी बाधा मानते रहे हैं। महात्मा बुद्ध ने भी कहा है कि अहंकार के कारण मानव को अनेक संकटों से जूझना पड़ता है।

आचार्य रजनीश (ओशो) भक्तों को एक कहानी सुनाया करते थे-एक साधु किसी गाँव से गुजर रहा था। उस गाँव में उसका परिचित साधु रहता था।

उसने सोचा आधी रात हो रही है, क्यों न मित्र साधु के पास रहकर रात काटी जाए। साधु के आश्रमनुमा कमरे की खिड़की से प्रकाश आता देखकर उसने दरवाजा खटखटाया। भीतर से आवाज आई, ‘कौन है?’ उसने यह सोचकर कि मित्र साधु आवाज से पहचान ही लेगा, कहा, ‘मैं हूँ।

इसके बाद भीतर से कोई उत्तर नहीं आया। उसने बार-बार दरवाजा खटखटाया, पर कोई जवाब नहीं मिला। अंत में उसका धैर्य जवाब दे गया और उसने पूरा जोर लगाकर कहा, ‘मेरे लिए तुम दरवाजा क्यों नहीं खोल रहे हो? चुप क्यों हो?’

भीतर से आवाज आई, ‘तुम कौन नासमझ हो, जो खुद को ‘मैं’ कहते हो। ‘मैं’ कहने का अधिकार सिवाय परमात्मा के किसी और को नहीं है। प्रभु के द्वार पर ‘मैं’ का ही ताला है। जो उसे तोड़ देता है, वह पाता है कि प्रभु के द्वार उसके लिए सदा से ही खुले थे।’

संत कबीरदास तो अपनी साखी में स्पष्ट कहते हैं जब मैं था, तब हरि नहीं, अब हरि हैं, मैं नाहिं । प्रेम गली अति सांकरि, तामें दो न समाहिं॥

वास्तव में अहंकार से ग्रस्त व्यक्ति का विवेक नष्ट होते देर नहीं लगती। वह स्वयं अपने हाथों विनाश के लिए तत्पर हो उठता है।

English Translation

Acharyas and philosophers of all religions have considered ‘I’ i.e. ego as the biggest obstacle in God realization. Mahatma Buddha has also said that due to ego, man has to face many troubles.

Acharya Rajneesh (Osho) used to tell a story to the devotees – a sadhu was passing through a village. His acquaintance lived in that village.

He thought it was midnight, why not spend the night staying with a friend. Seeing the light coming from the window of the hermitage room of the monk, he knocked on the door. A voice came from within, ‘Who is it?’ He said, ‘I am,’ thinking that the friend would recognize him by the sage’s voice.

After that no reply came from inside. He knocked on the door repeatedly, but got no answer. At last his patience ran out and he said with all his might, ‘Why are you not opening the door for me? why are you quiet?’

A voice came from within, ‘Who are you foolish, who call himself ‘I’. No one has the right to say ‘I’ except God. The door of the Lord is the lock of ‘I’. He who breaks it finds that the doors of the Lord were always open to him.’

Sant Kabirdas clearly says in his Sakhi that when I was there, I was not Hari, now I am Hari, I am not. Love street is very narrow, Tame do not samahi.

In fact, the conscience of a person with ego does not take long to be destroyed. He himself gets ready for destruction by his own hands.
