एक गांव में रामसिंह और पदमा पति पत्नी रहते थे। कुछ समय बाद उनका बच्चा होने वाला था। पदमा हॉस्पिटल में भर्ती थी। नर्स ने रामसिंह को आकर खुशखबरी दी की आपके जुड़वाँ बच्चे हुए है।
रामसिंह ने कहा की दो – दो लड़के लेकिन नर्स ने कहा की एक लड़का एक लड़की। रामसिंह लड़की नहीं चाहता था। क्योंकि लड़की की शादी में होने वाले खर्चे से वह डरता था। 2 -4 दिन के बाद रामसिंह अपनी पत्नी और बच्चो के साथ अपने घर पर आ गया।
वह ज्यादातर लड़के को ही खिलाता था। पदमा को यह बाद पसंद नहीं थी। एक दिन रामसिंह अपनी पत्नी से बोला की हम दो-दो बच्चों का खर्च नहीं उठा सकते। हमारी आर्थिक स्थिति अच्छी नहीं है।
इसके अलावा लड़की की शादी में होने वाले खर्चे को भी हम नहीं उठा सकते। इसलिए हम लड़की को मेरे मित्र को सौंप देते है। जिसकी कोई संतान नहीं है। वह हमारी लड़की को हम से भी अच्छे से पालेगा क्योंकि वह बहुत अमीर है।
पदमा ने अपनी लड़की को देने से मना किया लेकिन रामसिंह के कहने पर दुखी मन से उसने अपनी लड़की को रामसिंह को सौंप दिया। रामसिंह ने लड़की को अपने मित्र की बीवी को सौंप दिया। बच्चा पाकर वह बहुत खुश हुए।
इसके बाद समय बीतता गया रामसिंह अपने लड़के को अच्छे से पाल रहा था और उसकी हर इच्छा को पूरा करता था। लड़का जब 20 वर्ष का हुआ तो उसने रामसिंह से बाइक दिलाने की जिद्द की।
रामसिंह ने अपनी बीवी के गहने बेचकर उसको बाइक दिला दी। कुछ समय बाद उसने अपने लड़के के लिए खेत बेचकर एक दूकान खुलवा दी। जिससे वह कुछ कमाने लग गया। फिर कुछ समय बाद उसकी शादी भी करा दी।
शादी के बाद रामसिंह के लड़के का व्यवहार बदल गया। वह अपने पिता से बोला आप मेरे ससुराल वालों को ताना मत मारा करो। रोज़ रोज़ वह किसी बात पर अपने माँ बाप से झगड़ा करता था।
एक दिन उसने रामसिंह और पदमा दोनों को उन्ही के घर से निकाल दिया। बहुत समझाने पर भी वह नहीं माना। रामसिंह और उसकी पत्नी एक मंदिर में गए। वहाँ पहुंच कर पदमा ने रामसिंह को कहा की मंदिर का प्रसाद खा लेते है।
जब पर प्रसाद ले रहे थे तो वहाँ पर रामसिंह के मित्र की पत्नी आ गयी। उसने रामसिंह को पहचान लिया। उसने अपनी उसी बेटी से रामसिंह को मिलवाते हुए बताया की यह वही है जिसको आपने 25 वर्ष पहले हमको सौंपा था।
आज यह एक डॉक्टर है और वृद्धाश्रम भी चलाती है। रामसिंह और पदमा अपनी बेटी से मिलकर बहुत खुश हुए और उनने अपनी सारी बात अपनी बेटी को बताई। इसके बाद वह बोली की अब आप दोनों मेरे साथ ही रहेंगे।
सीख : हमें कभी भी लड़के लड़की में भेदभाव नहीं करना चाहिए।
English Translation

One day he expelled both Ram Singh and Padma from his house. Despite many persuasion, he did not agree. Ram Singh and his wife went to a temple. Upon reaching there, Padma told Ram Singh that they eat the offerings of the temple.
When Par was taking Prasad, the wife of Ram Singh’s friend came there. He recognized Ram Singh. He introduced Ram Singh to his same daughter and told that this is the one whom you handed over to us 25 years ago.
Today she is a doctor and also runs an old age home. Ram Singh and Padma were very happy to meet their daughter and they told everything about their daughter. After this she said that now both of you will stay with me.
