चालाक मिस्त्री की कहानी

एक बार की बात है पालमपुर गाँव में कल्लू नाम का एक मिस्त्री रहता था। वह बहुत लोगों के बड़े बड़े और अच्छे घर बनाता था लेकिन वह खुद एक झोपड़े में अपनी बीवी के साथ रहता था। एक दिन कल्लू घर आया और अपनी बीवी से बोला मै लोगो के लिए इतने अच्छे और बड़े घर बनाता हूँ लेकिन मेरी कमाई इतनी कम है की मै खुद का एक बड़ा और पक्का घर अभी तक नहीं बना पाया। इसलिए मै यह काम छोड़ दूंगा।

लेकिन उसकी बीवी ने कल्लू को प्रोत्साहित करते हुए  बोला की आप इसी तरह मेहनत से काम करते रहिए तो आप भी एक दिन हमारे लिए एक बड़ा घर बना लेंगे। वह यह बात कर ही रहे थे तभी उनके पास जमींदार का नौकर आया और बोला की कल्लू तुमको जमींदार साहब ने बुलाया है। कल्लू यह सुनकर जमींदार के घर गया। वहाँ जाकर जमींदार ने कल्लू को कहाँ की तुमको हमारे लिए एक अच्छा बड़ा घर बनाना है।

उसने सोचा जमींदार इतने घर का आखिर करेंगे क्या मैंने और भी उनके बहुत से घर बनाये है जो की 50 साल टिकेंगे लेकिन अगर मै यह जो घर बनाने वाला हूँ। इसमें मै थोड़ा कच्चा सामान लगा देता हूँ तो यह 2 साल तो चल जाएगा।

लेकिन इसके बचाएँ गए पैसों से मै दूसरे गाँव में जाकर अच्छा और बड़ा घर अपने लिए बना सकता हूँ। 2 साल बाद यह घर गिर भी जाये तो क्या फ़र्क पड़ता है यह घर बनाने के बाद तो मै यहाँ से चला जाऊंगा। यह सोचकर उसने उसी दिन से जमींदार का घर कच्चा सामान लाकर बनाना शुरू कर दिया ।

वह असली सामान जैसा दिखने वाला नकली सामान घर में लगाने लगा जिससे किसी को कोई शक न हो सकें। कुछ समय बाद घर बन कर तैयार हो गया और इस घर को बनाने में कल्लू मिस्त्री को बहुत पैसों की बचत हुई जिससे वह बहुत खुश था और सोच रहा था इस पैसों का मै दूसरे गाँव में जाकर एक अच्छा बड़ा घर बना कर रहूँगा। घर बनाने के बाद वह जमींदार को घर दिखाने के लिए ले आया। जमींदार ने घर देखा तो बोला यह घर तो बहुत मजबूत और अच्छा है लगता है यह सौ साल तक टिकेगा।

लेकिन सच्चाई कल्लू मिस्त्री को पता थी की वह घर केवल दो साल ही टिकने वाला था। जमींदार बोला यह घर मैंने कल्लू मिस्त्री तुम्हारे लिए बनवाया है। तुमने हमारे लिए बहुत सारे अच्छे घर बनाये है हम तुमको इनाम देने के लिए यह घर बनवाया है।

अब इस घर में तुम रह सकते हो। यह सुनकर कल्लू मिस्त्री के होश उड़ गए क्योंकि इस घर में उसने कच्चा माल लगाया था जिसके कारण वह घर 2 साल ही चलने वाला था। वह जमींदार से बोला तो आप यह पहले भी तो बता सकते थे।

लेकिन जमींदार बोला हम तुमको सरप्राइज़ देना चाहते थे। यह बात सुनकर कल्लू मिस्त्री परेशान हो गया और दुःखी मन के साथ उस घर में अपनी बीवी के साथ आकर रहने लगा। उस घर में आकर कल्लू मिस्त्री की बीवी बहुत खुश हो गयी क्योंकि की इतने बड़े और अच्छे घर में वह कभी नहीं रही थी।

जमींदार ने उनको कुछ अच्छे कपड़े और ज़ेवर भी दिए जिससे वह अच्छा जीवन जी सके। कल्लू मिस्त्री अपने आपको कोसने लगा की क्यों उसने ऐसा घर बनाया जो केवल दो साल ही चलने वाला है।

वह अब दूसरे गाँव में जाकर अपने लिए नया घर भी नहीं बना सकता था क्योंकि इससे जमींदार को शक हो जाता। इसी परेशानी के साथ कल्लू और उसकी बीवी उस घर में रहने लगे। दो साल पुरे होने ही वाले थे। कल्लू मिस्त्री ने सोचा अगर वह इस घर की मरम्मत कराएगा तो जमींदार बोलेगा यह घर तो 50 साल चलने वाला है तो तुम इसकी मरम्मत क्यों करा रहे हो।

कल्लू मिस्त्री को पता था 2 साल होने पर वह घर गिर जायेगा तो वह अपनी बीवी के साथ उसके मायके में चला गया और वह अपने साथ सारा सामान और जेवर भी नहीं ले कर गया नहीं तो लोग शक करते की उसको पता था यह घर दो साल बाद गिरने वाला है।

दो साल होने पर वह घर पूरी तरह से गिर गया जिसके बाद कल्लू मिस्त्री उस घर पर आकर नाटक करने लगा की उसका सारा सामान और ज़ेवर का नुक्सान हो गया। वह जमींदार से बड़ी चतुराई से बोला हम गरीबों के नसीब में ऐसा अच्छा घर नहीं होता जिसके कारण यह घर गिर गया नहीं तो आपके सारे घर अभी तक खड़े है। जमींदार ने भी इसे सच समझा जिसके बाद कल्लू मिस्त्री अपनी बीवी को लेकर अपने पुराने झोपड़े में जाकर रहने लगा। 

English Translation

Once upon a time in Palampur village there lived a mason named Kallu. He used to build big and nice houses for many people but he himself lived in a hut with his wife. One day Kallu came home and told his wife, I build such nice and big houses for the people, but my income is so low that I have not been able to build a big and pucca house of my own yet. So I will leave this job.

But his wife encouraged Kallu and said that if you keep working hard like this, then you too will build a big house for us one day. While he was talking about this, the landlord’s servant came to him and said that Kallu has called you by the Zamindar Sahib. Kallu heard this and went to the landlord’s house. Going there, the landlord told Kallu that you have to build a nice big house for us.

Kallu asked the landlord in surprise that I have just built a big house for you and even before that I have made enough houses for you, you want to build another house. In response, the landlord said that now I want to build another big house. Saying this, the zamindar gave Kallu a lot of money to bring home building materials. Kallu started taking the money and started thinking that the landlords are starting to build houses for themselves at home but I could not build a single good house.

Thinking this, he started building the landlord’s house by bringing raw materials from that day itself.

He started putting counterfeit goods in the house that looked like the real stuff so that no one could have any doubts. After some time the house was completed and Kallu Mistry saved a lot of money in making this house, due to which he was very happy and was thinking that I will go to another village and build a nice big house with this money. After building the house, he brought the landlord to show the house. When the landlord saw the house, he said that this house is very strong and good, it seems that it will last for a hundred years.

But the truth was known to Kallu Mistry that that house was going to last only two years. The landlord said, I have built this house for you Kallu Mistry. You have built many nice houses for us, we have built this house to reward you.

Now you can live in this house. On hearing this, Kallu Mistry was blown away because he had planted raw material in this house, due to which the house was going to last only 2 years. If he spoke to the landlord, you could have told this earlier also.

But the landlord said, we wanted to surprise you. On hearing this, Kallu Mistry got upset and with a sad heart started living in that house with his wife. Kallu Mistry’s wife became very happy after coming to that house because she had never lived in such a big and good house.

The zamindar also gave him some nice clothes and jewelery so that he could lead a good life. Kallu Mistry started cursing himself that why he built such a house which is going to last only two years.

He could no longer go to another village to build a new house for himself as it would have made the landlord suspicious. With this problem, Kallu and his wife started living in that house. Two years were about to end. Kallu Mistry thought that if he gets this house repaired, the landlord will say that this house is going to last for 50 years, so why are you getting it repaired.

Kallu Mistry knew that he would fall at home after 2 years, then he went to his maternal house with his wife and he did not even take all the belongings and jewelry with him, otherwise people would have doubted that he knew this house for two years. going to fall later.

After two years, that house completely collapsed, after which Kallu Mistry came to that house pretending that all his belongings and jewelry were damaged. He said cleverly to the landlord, we poor do not have such a good house due to which this house has collapsed, otherwise all your houses are still standing. The landlord also understood this to be true, after which Kallu Mistry took his wife and started living in his old hut.
