रेगिस्तान की यात्रा!!

एक आदमी रेगिस्तान में यात्रा कर रहा था। साथ में था उसका ऊंट और ऊंट पर लदा था ढेर सारा सामान। ऊंट और वह दोनों ही पसीने से तर बतर थे। गरमी से थक कर उस आदमी ने फैसला किया कि अब वह कहीं आराम करेगा। इसलिए यात्रा बीच में ही रूक गई। ऊंट की पीठ से अपना तंबू उतारकर आदमी ने एक जगह गाढ़ दिया और उसके अंदर जाकर सुस्ताने लगा।

ऊंट भी छाया चाहता था मगर आदमी ने डपटकर उसे धूप में ही खड़े रहने का हुक्म सुना दिया। उस ने तंबू में करीब दो घंटे तक आराम किया। जब सूरज थोड़ा सा ढल गया, तब उस ने भोजन किया और ऊंट पर सवार होकर यात्रा के लिए चल पड़ा। ऊंट बेचारा मन मसोसकर रह गया। उसे गुस्स तो बहुत आ रहा था अपने निर्दयी मालिक पर, पर अब वो कुछ नहीं कर सकता था।

रात हो गई। मौसम ठण्डा होने लगा था। रेगिस्तान में दिन जितने गरम होते हैं, रातें उतनी ही ठण्डी होती हैं। आधी रात होते-होते उस आदमी के दांत ठंड से किटकिटाने लगे तो उसने फिर ऊंट को रोका और उसकी पीठ से तंबू उतराकर रेत में ही लगाया तथा उसके अंदर घुसकर आराम करने का विचार किया।

इस बार ऊंट पहले से ही तैयार था। उसने कहा, ”मालिक, मुझे भी ठंड लग रही है।“

”तो?“ आदमी ने घूरकर उसकी ओर देखा और टैंट में घुस गया। ऊंट बार बार तंबू में सिर घुसेड़कर पूछता, ”मालिक मैं भी अंदर आ जाऊं?“

उस आदमी ने सोचा कि ऐसे तो यह बेहूदा ऊंट मुझे सोने ही नहीं देगा। इसलिए उसने कहा, ”ठीक है, तुम भी अपना सिर तंबू के अंदर कर लो।“ ऊंट खुश हो गया। वह मन ही मन मुस्करा रहा था।

कुछ ही समय गुजरा था कि ऊंट ने फिर कहा, ”वाह मालिक, मजा आ गया। अब मेरे सिर को ठंड नहीं लग रही है। आप बुरा न मानें तो अपनी अगली टांगें भी तंबू के अंदर कर लूं।“ आदमी ने सोचा इसमें बुराई क्या है? उसने अपने पैर सिकोड़ लिए और ऊंट ने गरदन और अगली टांगें भी टैंट में कर लीं।

आदमी की आंखें झपकी ही थी कि ऊंट जोर जोर से कराहने लगा। आदमी ने पूछा, ”अब क्या हुआ?“ ऊंट बोला, ”ऐसे तो मैं बीमार हो जाऊंगा मालिक! आधा शरीर गरम और आधा ठंडा हो रहा है। देख लीजिए, अगर मैं बीमार हो गया तो आपको भी यात्रा बीच में ही छोड़नी पड़ेगी।“

वह आदमी बेचारा सोच में पड़ गया। फिर बोला, ”तो क्या करूं?“ ”करें क्या मालिक? मैं अपना बाकी शरीर भी अंदर कर लेता हूं।“ ऊंट बोला।

”नहीं, नहीं! इस तंबू में दो की जगह नहीं है।“ ”हां, यह बात तो है मालिक।“ ऊंट बोला, ”ऐसा कीजिए, आप थोड़ा बाहर निकल जाइए। मैं अंदर लेट जाता हूं।“ यह कहकर ऊंट तंबू में घुस गया और आदमी को सारी रात रेगिस्तान की ठंड में गुजरानी पड़ी।

इस तरह समझदार ऊंट ने अपना बदला चुकाकर सारा हिसाब किताब बराबर कर लिया। अगली यात्रा पर ऊंट के मालिक ने बड़ा तंबू खरीद ने का सोचा, उसे उसका सबक मिल चूका था।

English Translation

A man was traveling in the desert. His camel was with him and a lot of stuff was loaded on the camel. Both the camel and he were drenched in sweat. Tired of the heat, the man decided that now he would rest somewhere. That’s why the journey stopped in the middle. Taking off his tent from the camel’s back, the man pitched it in a place and went inside it to relax.

The camel also wanted shade, but the man rebuked it and ordered it to stand in the sun. He rested in the tent for about two hours. When the sun had set a little, he had his food and set out on his journey on a camel. The poor camel was left heartbroken. He was getting very angry on his cruel master, but now he could not do anything.

It was night time. The weather was starting to turn cold. The hotter the days in the desert, the cooler the nights. By midnight, the man’s teeth started chattering with cold, so he stopped the camel again and took the tent off its back and put it on the sand and thought of resting inside it.

This time the camel was already ready. She said, “Master, I am feeling cold too.”

“So?” The man stared at her and entered the tent. The camel repeatedly poked its head into the tent and asked, “Master, may I also come in?”

The man thought that this ridiculous camel would not let me sleep like this. So he said, “Okay, you too put your head inside the tent.” The camel became happy. He was smiling in his heart.

It was only a matter of time that the camel again said, “Wow, master, it was fun.” Now my head is not feeling cold. If you don’t mind, I will also put my front legs inside the tent. ′′ The man thought what’s wrong with this? He shrank his legs and the camel also put its neck and front legs in the tent.

The man’s eyes had just blinked that the camel started moaning loudly. The man asked, “What happened now?” The camel said, “I will get sick like this, master! Half of the body is getting hot and half is getting cold. Look, if I get sick, you will also have to leave the journey midway.

That poor man got lost in thought. Then said, “Then what should I do?” “What to do, Master? I also take the rest of my body inside.’ said the camel.

“No. No! There is no place for two in this tent.” “Yes, it is so, master.” The camel said, “Do this, you go out a little. I lie down inside.” Saying this the camel entered the tent and the man had to spend the whole night in the cold of the desert.

In this way, the wise camel settled all the accounts by paying his revenge. On the next trip the camel owner thought of buying a bigger tent, he had learned his lesson.
