डॉo राही मासूम रज़ा

डॉo राही मासूम रज़ा को फ़िल्म निर्माता व निर्देशक बी०आर० चोपड़ा ने “महाभारत” टी०वी० सीरियल की पटकथा ( STORY SCRIPT ) लिखने को कहा। राही मासूम रज़ा ने इनकार कर दिया। दूसरे दिन यह ख़बर न्यूज़ पेपर में छप गयी।

हज़ारों लोगों ने चोपड़ा साहब को ख़त लिखा कि :— एक मुसलमान ही मिला “महाभारत” लिखवाने के लिए ?

चोपड़ा साहब ने सारे ख़तों को राही मासूम रज़ा के पास भिजवा दिया।

ख़तों के ज़खीरे को देखने के बाद राही मासूम रज़ा ने चोपड़ा साहब से कहा कि — अब तो मैं ही लिखूँगा “महाभारत” की पटकथा , क्योंकि मैं गंगा का पुत्र हूँ। राही मासूम रज़ा ने जब टी०वी० सीरियल “महाभारत” की पटकथा लिखी तो उनके घर में ख़तों के अंबार लग गए। लोगों ने डॉ० राही मासूम रज़ा की ख़ूब तारीफें की एवं उन्हें ख़ूब दुआएँ दी।

ख़तों के कई गट्ठर बन गए , लेक़िन एक बहुत छोटा सा गट्ठर उनकी मेज़ के किनारे सब ख़तों से अलग पड़ा था।

उनकी मेज़ के किनारे अलग से पड़ी हुई ख़तों की सबसे छोटी गट्ठर के बारे में वज़ह पूछने पर राही मासूम रज़ा साहब ने ज़वाब दिया कि — ये वह ख़त हैं जिनमें मुझे गालियाँ लिखी गयी हैं।

कुछ हिंदू इस बात से नाराज़ हैं कि तूम्हारी हिम्मत कैसे हुई मुसलमान होकर “महाभारत” की पटकथा लिखने की ? कुछ मुसलमान नाराज़ हैं कि तुमने हिंदुओं की क़िताब को क्यूँ लिखा ?

राही साहब ने कहा :– ख़तों की यही सबसे छोटी गट्ठर दरअसल मुझे हौसला देती है कि मुल्क में बुरे लोग कितने कम हैं”।

याद रखने की बात ये है कि आज़ भी नफ़रत फ़ैलाने वालों की “छोटी गट्ठर” हमारे प्यार -मोहब्बत के “बड़े गट्ठर” से बहुत छोटी है।

About Dr. Rahi Masoom Raza

राही मासूम रज़ा (1 सितंबर, 1925 – 15 मार्च, 1992) का जन्म गाज़ीपुर के गंगौली गाँव में हुआ था और उनकी प्रारंभिक शिक्षा गंगा के किनारे गाजीपुर शहर के एक इलाके में हुई थी। बचपन में पोलियो के कारण कुछ वर्षों तक उनकी पढ़ाई छूट गई लेकिन इंटरमीडिएट की पढ़ाई पूरी करने के बाद वे अलीगढ़ आ गए और यहाँ से मास्टर्स पूरा करने के बाद उन्होंने उर्दू और “तिलिज्म-ए-होशरूबा” में डॉक्टरेट की उपाधि प्राप्त की। पूर्ण। डॉक्टरेट। करने के बाद राही अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय, अलीगढ़ के उर्दू विभाग में प्राध्यापक हो गये और अलीगढ़ के ही एक मुहल्ले बदरबाग में रहने लगे। अलीगढ़ में रहते हुए ही राही ने अपने भीतर साम्यवादी दृष्टिकोण का विकास कर लिया था और भारतीय कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी के वे सदस्य भी हो गए थे। अपने व्यक्तित्व के इस निर्माण-काल में वे बड़े ही उत्साह से साम्यवादी सिद्धान्तों के द्वारा समाज के पिछड़ेपन को दूर करना चाहते थे और इसके लिए वे सक्रिय प्रयत्न भी करते रहे थे।

१९६८ से राही बम्बई में रहने लगे थे। वे अपनी साहित्यिक गतिविधियों के साथ-साथ फिल्मों के लिए भी लिखते थे जो उनकी जीविका का प्रश्न बन गया था। राही स्पष्टतावादी व्यक्ति थे और अपने धर्मनिरपेक्ष राष्ट्रीय दृष्टिकोण के कारण अत्यन्त लोकप्रिय हो गए थे। यहीं रहते हुए राही ने आधा गांव, दिल एक सादा कागज, ओस की बूंद, हिम्मत जौनपुरी उपन्यास व १९६५ के भारत-पाक युद्ध में शहीद हुए वीर अब्दुल हमीद की जीवनी छोटे आदमी की बड़ी कहानी लिखी। उनकी ये सभी कृतियाँ हिंदी में थीं। इससे पहले वह उर्दू में एक महाकाव्य १८५७ जो बाद में हिन्दी में क्रांति कथा नाम से प्रकाशित हुआ तथा छोटी-बड़ी उर्दू नज़्में व गजलें लिखे चुके थे। आधा गाँव, नीम का पेड़, कटरा बी आर्ज़ू, टोपी शुक्ला, ओस की बूंद और सीन ७५ उनके प्रसिद्ध उपन्यास हैं। पिछले कुछ वर्षों प्रसिद्धि में रहीं हिन्दी पॉप गायिका पार्वती खान का विवाह इनके पुत्र नदीम खान, हिन्दी फिल्म निर्देशक एवं सिनेमैटोग्राफर से हुआ था।

उन्होंने एक टीवी धारावाहिक महाभारत की पटकथा और संवाद लिखे।टीवी धारावाहिक महाकाव्य महाभारत पर आधारित था। धारावाहिक भारत के सबसे लोकप्रिय टीवी धारावाहिकों में से एक बन गया, जिसमें लगभग 86% की चोटी की टेलीविजन रेटिंग थी।

English Translation

Film producer and director BR Chopra asked Dr. Rahi Masoom Raza to write the STORY SCRIPT for the TV serial “Mahabharata”. Rahi Masoom Raza refused. The next day this news was published in the news paper.

Thousands of people wrote letters to Mr. Chopra that :— Only one Muslim was found to get “Mahabharata” written?

Chopra sahib sent all the letters to Rahi Masoom Raza.

After seeing the collection of letters, Rahi Masoom Raza said to Chopra Saheb that — Now I will write the script of “Mahabharat”, because I am the son of Ganga. When Rahi Masoom Raza wrote the script of the TV serial “Mahabharat”, there were piles of letters in his house. People praised Dr. Rahi Masoom Raza a lot and gave him lots of blessings.

Many bundles of letters were made, but a very small bundle was lying apart from all the letters on the edge of his table.

On being asked the reason for the smallest bundle of letters lying separately on the side of his table, Rahi Masoom Raza Sahib replied that — these are the letters in which abuses have been written to me.

Some Hindus are angry that how dare you write the script of “Mahabharata” being a Muslim? Some Muslims are angry that why did you write the book of Hindus?

Rahi Sahib said :– This smallest bundle of letters actually gives me courage that there are very few bad people in the country”.

The thing to remember is that even today the “small group” of those who spread hatred is much smaller than the “big group” of our love.

About Dr. Rahi Masoom Raza

Rahi Masoom Raza (September 1, 1925 – March 15, 1992) was born in Gangauli village of Ghazipur and did his early education in a locality in Ghazipur city on the banks of the Ganges. As a child, he missed his studies for a few years due to polio, but after completing his intermediate studies, he came to Aligarh and after completing his Masters from here, he obtained a doctorate in Urdu and “Tilism-e-Hoshruba”. Complete. Doctorate. After graduation, Rahi became a professor in the Urdu department of Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh and started living in Badarbagh, a neighborhood of Aligarh itself. While living in Aligarh, Rahi developed communist outlook within himself and became a member of the Communist Party of India. In this formative period of his personality, he very enthusiastically wanted to remove the backwardness of the society through communist principles and for this he was making active efforts.

From 1968, Rahi started living in Bombay. He used to write for films along with his literary activities which became a question of his livelihood. Rahi was an outspoken person and became very popular because of his secular national outlook. While living here, Rahi wrote the novel Aadha Gaon, Dil Ek Sada Kagaz, Os Ki Boond, Himmat Jaunpuri and Chhote Aadmi Ki Badi Kahani, a biography of Veer Abdul Hameed who was martyred in the Indo-Pak war of 1965. All these works of his were in Hindi. Prior to this, he had written an epic poem in Urdu in 1857 which was later published in Hindi as Kranti Katha and small and big Urdu poems and ghazals. Aadha Gaon, Neem Ka Peed, Katra Bi Arzu, Topi Shukla, Os Ki Boond and Seen 75 are his famous novels. Hindi pop singer Parvati Khan, who has been in fame for the past few years, was married to her son Nadeem Khan, a Hindi film director and cinematographer.

He wrote the script and dialogues of a TV serial Mahabharata. The TV serial was based on the epic Mahabharata. The serial became one of the most popular TV serials in India, with a peak television rating of around 86%.

1. Salute to Mr. Rahe Masoom Reza for brilliant script. Not everyone can write script for such complex plot and sub plot intertwined between million shades of Dharm and Adharm that too in purest form of Hindi. He is a proof that language doesn’t have religion. All characters indeed played brilliant role and should be rewarded but he is the script writer behind the screen who make their acting shine in this timeless classic.
