बिन मांगी सीख

एक जंगल में एक विशाल बरगद का पेड़ था। जिसपर बया चिड़िया का एक बहुत ही सुंदर घोसला था। घोसले में चिड़िया के अंडे और कई बच्चे थे। घोसले की सुरक्षा में वे आनंदपूर्वक हर मौसम का आनन्द लेते थे।

ठंडी के मौसम में एक दिन तेज़ बारिश हो रही थी। चिड़िया और उसके बच्चे घोसले में बैठे बारिश का मजा ले रहे थे। तभी कहीं से भीगता हुआ एक बंदर बारिश से बचने के लिए उसी पेड़ पर आ गया।

बंदर पूरी तरह भीग चुका था और ठंड से कांप रहा था। उसकी हालत देखकर बया चिड़िया बोली, “भैया! सारे पशु पक्षी अपने लिए एक सुरक्षित ठिकाना बनाते हैं। शायद तुमने नहीं बनाया है। इसीलिए इस मौसम में तुम्हें परेशान होना पड़ रहा है।”

बंदर सचमुच ठंड और बारिश से परेशान था। वह कुछ नहीं बोला। उसे चुप देखकर चिड़िया फिर बोली, “मुझे देखो! मैंने अपने और बच्चों के लिए कितना सुंदर घोसला बनाया है। हम सब इसमें हर मौसम में आनंद से रहते हैं।”

“तुम्हारे तो हाथ पैर मनुष्यों जैसे हैं। दिमाग भी वैसा होगा। तुम चाहते तो अपने लिए एक सुंदर घर बना सकते थे। लेकिन तुमने ऐसा नहीं किया। उसी का फल तुम्हें अब भुगतना पड़ रहा है।”

चिड़िया की बातें सुनकर पहले से परेशान बन्दर को गुस्सा आ गया। उसने गुस्से में चिड़िया का घोसला तोड़कर जमीन पर फेंक दिया। उसके बच्चे और अंडे जमीन पर गिरकर बारिश में भीगने लगे। चिड़िया रोने लगी। उसे सबक मिल गया कि बिना मांगे किसी को सलाह नहीं देनी चाहिए। उसी पेड़ के नीचे बारिश से बचने के लिए एक आदमी भी खड़ा था। इस घटनाक्रम को देखकर उसने कहा–

सीख वाको दीजिये, जाको सीख सुहाय।
सीख न दीजै बानरा, घर बैया को जाय।।

सीख : सलाह हमेशा उसे देना चाहिए जो सलाह मांगे। उसे कभी भी सलाह नहीं देनी चाहिए जो सुनना न चाहता हो।

English Translation

There was a huge banyan tree in a forest. On which there was a very beautiful nest of Baya bird. There were bird eggs and many babies in the nest. They happily enjoyed every season in the safety of the nest.

It was raining heavily one day in the cold weather. The bird and its children were enjoying the rain sitting in the nest. Just then a monkey getting wet from somewhere came to the same tree to escape from the rain.

The monkey was completely drenched and was shivering with cold. Seeing his condition, the bird said, “Brother! All the animals and birds make a safe place for themselves. Maybe you haven’t made it. That’s why you have to worry in this season.

The monkey was really upset with the cold and the rain. He did not say anything. Seeing him silent, the bird again said, “Look at me! What a beautiful nest I have made for myself and the children. We all live happily in it in all seasons.

“Your hands and feet are like humans. The mind will also be like that. If you wanted, you could have built a beautiful house for yourself. But you didn’t do that. You are now suffering the consequences of the same.

Hearing the words of the bird, the already upset monkey got angry. He angrily broke the bird’s nest and threw it on the ground. Her babies and eggs fell on the ground and started getting wet in the rain. The bird started crying. He got a lesson that one should not give advice without asking. A man was also standing under the same tree to take shelter from the rain. Seeing this incident, he said-

Give lessons to others, go and learn well.
Don’t teach me monkey, go home to brother.

Moral of the Story – Learning Advice should always be given to those who ask for it. Never give advice to someone who doesn’t want to listen.
