पाप का बाप कौन ?

तीन शूरवीर क्षत्रिय कहीं किसी कार्यवश जा रहे थे। रास्ते में उन्होंने देखा कि एक यात्री को रास्ते में किसी ने मार कर डाल दिया है। इस घटना पर दुखी होते हुए वे आगे चले जा रहे थे कि एक विधवा स्त्री दिखाई पड़ी। जिसका सारा धन-धान्य दूसरे लोगों ने छीन लिया था और उसे मार-पीट कर घर से भगा दिया था। इस घटना से भी उन्हें बड़ा कष्ट हुआ।

आगे चल कर देखते हैं कि बधिक लोगों ने बहुत से निरपराध पशु-पक्षियों को मार कर इकट्ठा कर लिया है।

इससे आगे चले तो देखा एक किसान का परिवार झोंपड़ी से बाहर पड़ा हुआ बिलख कर रो रहा है और जमींदार के आदमी लगान के लिए उसके बर्तन कपड़े तक उठाये ले जा रहे हैं और उन्हें मार-पीट रहे हैं।

इन घटनाओं को देखकर उन तीनों का दिल पिघल गया और वे एक स्थान पर बैठ कर सोचने लगे कि दुनिया में इतना पाप कैसे बढ़ता जा रहा है जिसके कारण लोग इस प्रकार दुखी हो रहे हैं।

इन्होंने विचार किया कि अपने कार्य को तो पीछे पूरा कर लेंगे, पहले इस बात का पता लगाते हैं कि यह पाप कहाँ से उत्पन्न होता है? इसका पिता कौन है? तब इस पाप को हटा देंगे।

चारों इस बात पर सहमत हो गये और पाप के उत्पत्ति-स्थान का पता लगाने के लिए चल दिये।
कितने ही दिनों तक वे निरंतर अपनी खोज में आगे बढ़ते गये पर कुछ पता न लगा।

एक दिन उन्होंने एक बड़े अनुभवी और वृद्ध पुरुष को देखा। थके हुए तो थे ही उन्होंने सोचा कि शायद इसे पता होगा। उन सबने उस वृद्ध पुरुष से बड़ी प्रार्थना की, कि वह उन्हें पाप के बाप का पता बता दें। वृद्ध ने उँगली का इशारा करते हुए पर्वत की एक गुफा दिखाई और कहा-देखो, उस कन्दरा में पाप का बाप रहता है। पर सावधान!

वह तुम्हें भी पकड़ न ले। चारों मित्र बड़े साहसी और अस्त्र-शस्त्रों से सुसज्जित थे। उन्होंने निश्चय किया कि ऐसे अधर्मी को दंड देना हम क्षत्रियों का धर्म है इसलिए चलते ही उसे मार डालेंगे
जिससे पाप की नाश हो जावे।

गुफा में पहुँच कर उन्होंने देखा कि वहाँ सोने के बड़े-बड़े ढेर लग रहे हैं। मानों सोना इधर उधर पड़ा हुआ है और कितनी ही चट्टानें ऐसी हैं जिनमें से हजारों मन सोना निकल सकता है।
अब वे अन्य सब बातों को तो भूल गये और इस सोच में पड़े कि इस सोने को घर कैसे ले जाना चाहिए। तय हुआ कि दिन में कोई देख लेगा इसलिए रात को इसे ले चलना ठीक होगा। इस समय भोजन करें और सुस्ता लें। एक पहर रात जाने पर चल देंगे। ऐसा निश्चय हो जाने पर दो साथी भोजन सामग्री लेने चल दिये और
तीसरा वहीं गुफा पर बैठकर अन्य व्यवस्थाएं करने लगा।

अब तीनों के मन में सोने का लालच सवार हुआ और वे सोचने लगे कि यह बाकी दो मर जावें तो सारा सोना उसे ही मिल जावे। जब लोभ बढ़ने लगा तो पाप उनके मनों में उदय हो आया। जो दो साथी भोजन लेने के लिए जा रहे थे उनमें से एक ने दूसरे के ऊपर तलवार से हमला किया और उसे रास्ते में ही मार कर छिपा दिया और जो भोजन सामग्री लाया था उसमें उसने तीसरे साथी के लिए जहर मिला दिया जिससे इसे खाकर वह भी मर जावे।

तीसरा उनका भी गुरु था, उसने एक एक करके उन दोनों को मार डालने का इरादा अलग ही पक्का कर लिया था।

जो साथी भोजन लाया था उसी ने बनाया भी ताकि वह दूसरे के लिए जहर मिला सके। जब भोजन बनकर तैयार हो गया तो तीसरे ने पीछे से उसके ऊपर छुरी से हमला किया और उसे वहीं ढेर कर दिया। अब वह अकेला बच गया और यह सोच कर प्रसन्न था कि सारा सोना मुझे ही मिल जाएगा। उसने भर-पेट भोजन किया, किन्तु भोजन से जैसे ही निवृत्त हुआ, उसके हाथ पैर ऐंठने लगे और वहीं थोड़ी देर पैर रगड़ कर तीसरा भी मर गया।

तो पाप का बाप कौन – “लोभ”

धन का आकर्षण बड़ा जबरदस्त है। जब लोभ सवार होता है तो मनुष्य अन्धा हो जाता है और पाप-पुण्य में कुछ भी फर्क नहीं देखता। पैसे के लिए वह बुरे से बुरे कर्म करने पर उतारू हो जाता है और फिर स्वयं भी उस पाप के फल से नष्ट हो जाता है।

जो व्यक्ति पाप से बचना चाहते हैं, उन्हें लोभ से सावधान रहना चाहिए। जब लालच के अवसर आवे तो बुद्धि को सतर्क रखना चाहिए कि मन कहीं ललचा न जावे। लोभ आते ही पाप की भावनाएं बढ़ती हैं, क्योंकि पाप का बाप है लोभ।

बाप(लोभ) के पीछे बेटा(पाप) भी आता है। अन्याय पूर्वक द्रव्य लेने की इच्छा को लोभ कहते हैं।
अत: हमें भी लोभ का त्याग कर देना चाहिए ताकि हम पाप कर्म से बच सकें।

So who is the father of sin – “greed”

The attraction of money is very tremendous. When covetousness prevails, man becomes blind and does not see any difference in sin and virtue. For money, he gets down on doing bad deeds and then he himself gets destroyed by the fruits of that sin.

Those who want to avoid sin should beware of greed. When opportunities of greed come, the mind should be alert that the mind should not be tempted. As soon as greed comes, feelings of sin increase, because the father of sin is greed.

The son (sin) also comes behind the father (greed). Greediness is the desire to take money unjustly.
Therefore, we should also abandon greed so that we can avoid sinful action.
