हिंदी साहित्यकार ने बनवाया था पत्नी का मंदिर

हमारे धर्म ग्रंथों में वर्णित है कि नारी की पूजा जहां होती है, वहां कभी धन की कमी नहीं होती वहां देवताओं का वास होता है। लेकिन संसार में ऐसे लोग भी होते हैं जो नारी को विशिष्ट सम्मान देते हैं।

हिंदी के महान साहित्यकार महावीर प्रसाद द्विवेदी इन्हीं में से एक हैं। उन्होंने पत्नी की मृत्यु के बाद उनकी मूर्ति स्थापित करवाई थी। जिसे लोग ‘स्मृति मंदिर’ के नाम से जानते हैं। यह मंदिर उनके रायबरेली जिले को गांव दौलतपुर में स्थित है।

इसके पीछे की कहानी बड़ी ही रोचक है। दरअसल द्विवेदीजी की पत्नी ने परिवार द्वारा स्थापित हनुमान (महावीर) जी की मूर्ति के लिए एक चबूतरा बनवाया। जब द्विवेदी जी जिला रायबरेली के अपने गांव दौलताबाद आए तो पत्नी ने चुटकी लेते हुए कहा, ‘लो जी, मैंने तुम्हारा (महावीर यानी हनुमान) चबूतरा बनवा दिया है।’ यह बात सुन द्विवेदी जी ने कहा, ‘अगर तुमने मेरा चबूतरा बनवा दिया है तो मैं तुम्हारा मंदिर बनवा दूंगा।’

गांव के रीति-रिवाज के अनुसार स्त्रियां अपने पति का नाम नहीं लेती थीं, इसलिए उन्होंने महावीर नाम न लेते हुए ऐसा कहा। द्विवेदीजी की पत्नी न तो विदूषी थीं और न हीं रूपवतीं। लेकिन वे एक अच्छी पत्नी थीं। इसलिए द्विवेदीजी भी उनसे बेहद स्नेह करते थे उतना ही उन्हें सम्मान देते थे।

यह बात वहीं समाप्त हो गई। लेकिन सन् 1912 में जब द्विवेदीजी की पत्नी का गंगा नदी में डूब जाने पर अचानक निधन हुआ तो उन्हें अपना वादा याद आया। उन्‍होंने अपने घर के आंगने के बीच देवी लक्ष्मी और देवी सरस्वती के नजदीक ही संगमरमर की अपनी पत्नी की मूर्ति स्थापित की।

प्रतिमा स्थापित करते समय उन्हें सामाजिक विरोध सहना पड़ा लेकिन उन्होंने इस बात की चिंता नहीं की। आज यह स्मृति मंदिर लोगों के लिए नारी सम्मान के रूप में मिसाल है।

Mahavir Prasad Dwivedi, one of the great writers of Hindi, is one of them. He had set up his statue after the death of his wife. People who know the name of ‘Smriti Mandir’. This temple is located in the village of Daulatpur, in Rae Bareli district.

The story behind it is very interesting. Indeed, Dwivedi’s wife built a platform for the statue of Hanuman (Mahavir), founded by the family. When Dwivedi came to his village Daulatabadi in Rae Bareli district, the wife quipped, “Lo, I have made you (Mahavir Yani Hanuman) square.” Listen to this, Dwivedi said, ‘If you have made my terrace, then I will make your temple.’

According to the customs of the village women did not take the names of their husbands, so they did not take Mahavira’s name. Dwivedi’s wife was neither a dancer nor a formidarian. But he was a good wife Therefore Dwivedi also loved him much as he loved him very much.

This thing ended there. But in 1912, when Dwivedi’s wife died suddenly after being immersed in river Ganges, she remembered her promise. In the middle of the courtyard of his house, he established his statue of a marble marble near Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Saraswati.

They had to face social protest while setting up the statue but they did not worry about this. Today this memory temple is an example of women’s honor for the people.
