इंसान में होते हैं अवगुण, ऐसे करें पहचान

एक संत से एक बार एक व्यक्ति मिलने आया। उसने कहा, ‘महाराज मैं बहुत पापी व्यक्ति हूं। मुझे उपदेश दीजिए।’ संत ने कहा, अच्छा एक काम करो जो तुमको अपने से पापी, ‘तुच्छ और बेकार वस्तु लगे उसे मेरे पास लेकर आओ।’

उस व्यक्ति को सबसे पहले श्वान मिला। लेकिन संत द्वारा बताए गुण उसमें नहीं थे। वह स्वामीभक्त और वफादार था। वह थोड़ा आगे चला तब उसे एक कांटेदार झाड़ी दिखाई दी। लेकिन वह भी उसके मानकों पर खरी नहीं उतरी क्योंकि कांटेदार झाड़ी का उपयोग खेत में बाड़ लगाने में होता है। जिससे फसलों की पशुओं से रक्षा होती है।

वह व्यक्ति आगे चलता गया। तब उसे रास्ते में गोबर मिला। गोबर आंगन लीपने और सुखाकर ईंधन के काम आता है। उसने सोचा कि यह मुझसे भी गया-बीता नहीं है। उस व्यक्ति ने जिस वस्तु को भी देखा वह उसे अच्छी ही लगी।

वह व्यक्ति थक-हार कर संत के पास पहुंचा। और बोला महाराजा, मुझे अपने से तुच्छ और बेकार वस्तु नहीं मिली। इस तरह संत ने उस व्यक्ति को शिष्य बना लिया।
