ईमान की पहचान

रमेशबाबु खिड़की से पानी वाले से पानी लेकर पचास रूपये दिए व वापस तीस रूपय छूट्टे का इंतजार रहे थे कि अचानक सिग्नल हो गया ट्रेन चल दी।पानी वाला बाबुजी…. बाबुजी… चिल्लाता रहा, पर बाबु ये तो ट्रेन है सिग्नल के आगे शायद हीं किसी की सुनती है। वह चाहकर भी कुछ नही कर सका।ट्रेन की सबसे पीछे वाली बोगी में बना क्राॅस का चिन्ह उसे चिढ़ाते हुए पास कर गया। उदास होकर उसने अपना फोन निकाला और कुछ बातें की।

थोड़ी देर बाद उसी ट्रेन में भीड़ को चीड़ते हुए, मुँह टेढ़ा करके बोले जाने वाली एक आवाज सुनायी दी- ”खाइए लिट्टी-चोखा दस के छः, दस के छः, खाइए बिहारी खाना दस……”
उसके अजीब आवाज के कारण खचाखच भीड़ उसी के तरफ देख रही थी। तभी उस बेंडर ने लोगो से हाँथ जोड़कर कहा-”बाबुजी पिछले स्टेशन पर मेरे एक साथी बेंडर का आप मे से किसी यात्री के यहाँ बीस रूपया छूट गया है कृपा करके दे दीजिए गरीब आदमी है बेचारा” उसने दोहराया। सारे लोगों ने अपनी-अपनी मुँहें दुसरी तरफ फेर ली मानो उनके सामने कोई भिखाड़ी आ गया हो। कुछ यात्रियों ने कह दिया ना, ना, हमलोग एसे आदमी नही है बीस रूपया से कोई राजा नही हो जाएगा दुसरी बोगी में देखो।
अचानक रमेशबाबु बुदबुदाए- ”तुम्हारा बीस रूपया छूट गया तो लेने आ गये और मेरा उसी स्टेशन पर तीस रूपया छूट गया तो कोई पूछने तक नही आया।”
बेंडर मोहन तीस रूपये उनके हाँथ में देते हुए
कहा-”बाबुजी ये पैसे आपके है। मेरे साथी ने मुझे फोन करके बताया था, अगर मैं सीधे-सीधे पूछता तो सही व्यक्ति का पता लगाना इस ईमानदारी के दौर में मेरे वस का नही था।”
यात्रियों की आँखें फटी रह गयी और फिर से वही आवाज गूँजने लगी, ”खाइए लिट्टी-चोखा…बिहार का खाना….लिट्टी-चोखा।”

English Translation

Rameshbabu took water from the window and gave fifty rupees from the waterman and was waiting for thirty rupees to be released that suddenly there was a signal, the train started. Babuji of water….Babuji… kept shouting, but babu, this is a train signal. Hardly anyone listens in front of him. He could not do anything even if he wanted to. The sign of the cross made in the rear bogie of the train passed by teasing him. Depressed, he took out his phone and talked a few things.

After a while in the same train, a voice was heard shouting to the crowd, “Khai litti-chokha ten ke six, ten ke six, eat Bihari food ten……”
Due to his strange voice, the crowd was looking towards him. Then that bender said with folded hands to the people – “Babuji, one of my fellow benders at the last station has left twenty rupees with any of you passengers, please give it to the poor man,” he repeated. All the people turned their faces to the other side as if a beggar had appeared in front of them. Some passengers said no, no, we are not such a person, no one will become a king with twenty rupees, look in the second bogie.
Suddenly Ramesh babu murmured – “If you have missed twenty rupees, then came to collect it and if I missed thirty rupees at the same station, no one came to ask.”

The eyes of the passengers were torn apart and the same voice echoed again, “Khai Litti-Chokha…Bihar Ka Khana…Litti-Chokha.”
