जानिए क्या होती है ईमानदारी और सच्चाई की कीमत

सऊदी अरब में बुखारी नामक एक विद्वान रहते थे। वह अपनी ईमानदारी के लिए मशहूर थे। एक बार वह समुद्री जहाज से लंबी यात्रा पर निकले।

उन्होंने सफर में खर्च के लिए एक हजार दीनार रख लिए। यात्रा के दौरान बुखारी की पहचान दूसरे यात्रियों से हुई। बुखारी उन्हें ज्ञान की बातें बताते गए।

एक यात्री से उनकी नजदीकियां कुछ ज्यादा बढ़ गईं। एक दिन बातों-बातों में बुखारी ने उसे दीनार की पोटली दिखा दी। उस यात्री को लालच आ गया।

उसने उनकी पोटली हथियाने की योजना बनाई। एक सुबह उसने जोर-जोर से चिल्लाना शुरू कर दिया, ‘हाय मैं मार गया। मेरा एक हजार दीनार चोरी हो गया।’ वह रोने लगा।

जहाज के कर्मचारियों ने कहा, ‘तुम घबराते क्यों हो। जिसने चोरी की होगी, वह यहीं होगा। हम एक-एक की तलाशी लेते हैं। वह पकड़ा जाएगा।’

यात्रियों की तलाशी शुरू हुई। जब बुखारी की बारी आई तो जहाज के कर्मचारियों और यात्रियों ने उनसे कहा, ‘आपकी क्या तलाशी ली जाए। आप पर तो शक करना ही गुनाह है।’

यह सुन कर बुखारी बोले, ‘नहीं, जिसके दीनार चोरी हुए है उसके दिल में शक बना रहेगा। इसलिए मेरी भी तलाशी भी जाए।’ बुखारी की तलाशी ली गई। उनके पास से कुछ नहीं मिला।

दो दिनों के बाद उसी यात्री ने उदास मन से बुखारी से पूछा, ‘आपके पास तो एक हजार दीनार थे, वे कहां गए?’ बुखारी ने मुस्करा कर कहा, ‘उन्हें मैंने समुद्र में फेंक दिया। तुम जानना चाहते हो क्यों?

क्योंकि मैंने जीवन में दो ही दौलत कमाई थीं- एक ईमानदारी और दूसरा लोगों का विश्वास। अगर मेरे पास से दीनार बरामद होते और मैं लोगों से कहता कि ये मेरे हैं तो लोग यकीन भी कर लेते लेकिन फिर भी मेरी ईमानदारी और सच्चाई पर लोगों का शक बना रहता।

मैं दौलत तो गंवा सकता हूं लेकिन ईमानदारी और सच्चाई को खोना नहीं चाहता।’ उस यात्री ने बुखारी से माफी मांगी।

A scholar named Bukhari lived in Saudi Arabia. He was known for his honesty. Once he got on a long journey from the sea-ship.

He kept a thousand dinars for the trip. During the visit, Bukhari has been identified by other passengers. Bukhari went to tell him the things of wisdom.

His closeness with a passenger increased a bit more. In a matter of one day, Bukhari showed him a penny of dinar. That passenger became greedy.

He planned to grab his bag. One morning he started shouting loudly, ‘Hi, I got killed. My one thousand dinars were stolen. ‘ He started crying.

The ship’s staff said, ‘Why are you scared? He, who might have stolen will be here only. We search each and every one. He will be caught. ‘

Passengers’ search began. When the turn of Bukhari came, the staff and passengers of the ship said to them, ‘What are you looking for? It is a crime to doubt you. ‘

Bukhari said, ‘No, whose dime is stolen, there will be doubt in his heart. Therefore, I should also go to the search. ‘Bukhari was searched. Nothing was found from them.

After two days, the same traveler asked Bukhari with a sad heart, ‘You had a thousand dinars, where did they go?’ Bukhari smiled and said, ‘I threw them into the sea. Why do you want to know?

Because I had earned only two riches in life – the belief of one honesty and the other people. If dinar was recovered from me and I would tell people that it was mine, then people would believe it, but still my doubts and truths kept people in doubt.

I can lose wealth but I do not want to lose honesty and truth. ‘ That passenger apologized to Bukhari.
