मृत्यु से भी बड़ा होता है प्रेम

भगवान बुद्ध एक बार उपदेश देने एक गांव में पहुंचे। वहां उनके पड़ाव का अंतिम दिन था। तब वह उस गांव के एक व्यक्ति के यहां पहुंचे। वो गरीब था। उसके पास भगवान बुद्ध के आतिथ्य के लिए कुछ भी न था। तब उसने घर के बाहर देखा।

जहां उसकी नजर बरसात में भीगी लकड़ियों पर पड़ी, जिन पर कुकुरमुत्ता( मशरूम) लगे हुए थे। उसने उन्हें तोड़ा और बड़े ही प्रेमपूर्वक उनकी सब्जी बनाई। लेकिन उस गरीब को पता नहीं था की मशरूम काफी कड़वे जहर के समान थे। वह बुद्ध से पूछता कि कैसा है भोजन? और बुद्ध कहते बहुत ही स्वादिष्ट।

मशरूम जहरीले थे। जिसके कारण उसका जहर बुद्ध के शरीर में फैल गया। यह देख उस व्यक्ति ने वैद्य को बुलाया। वैद्य ने बुद्ध से कहा, कि जब आपको मशरूम कड़वे लगे तब आपने उस व्यक्ति से क्यों नहीं कहा।

बुद्ध ने थोड़ा मुस्कुराए और बोले, ‘मौत के लिए प्रेम को कैसे रोक देता?’ मैनें प्रेम को आने दिया और मृत्यु को स्वीकार किया।

संक्षेप में

सच्चा प्रेम ऐसा ही होता है जिसमें आप जहर पीने में संकोच नहीं करते। बुद्ध संसार के हर प्राणी से इतना प्रेम करते थे।
