#महाभारत युद्ध समाप्त हो चुका था. युद्धभूमि में यत्र-तत्र योद्धाओं के फटे वस्त्र, मुकुट, टूटे शस्त्र, टूटे रथों के चक्के, छज्जे आदि बिखरे हुए थे और वायुमण्डल में पसरी हुई थी घोर उदासी …. ! गिद्ध , कुत्ते , सियारों की उदास और डरावनी आवाजों के बीच उस निर्जन हो चुकी उस भूमि में #द्वापर का सबसे महान योद्धा “#देवव्रत” (#भीष्म_पितामह) शरशय्या पर पड़ा सूर्य के #उत्तरायण होने की प्रतीक्षा कर रहा था — अकेला …. !
तभी उनके कानों में एक परिचित ध्वनि शहद घोलती हुई पहुँची , “प्रणाम पितामह” …. !!
भीष्म के सूख चुके अधरों पर एक मरी हुई मुस्कुराहट तैर उठी , बोले , ” आओ #देवकीनंदन …. ! स्वागत है तुम्हारा …. !!
मैं बहुत देर से तुम्हारा ही स्मरण कर रहा था” …. !!
#कृष्ण बोले , “क्या कहूँ पितामह ! अब तो यह भी नहीं पूछ सकता कि कैसे हैं आप” …. !
भीष्म चुप रहे , कुछ क्षण बाद बोले,” पुत्र #युधिष्ठिर का राज्याभिषेक करा चुके केशव … ?
उनका ध्यान रखना , परिवार के बुजुर्गों से रिक्त हो चुके राजप्रासाद में उन्हें अब सबसे अधिक तुम्हारी ही आवश्यकता है” …. !
कृष्ण चुप रहे …. !
भीष्म ने पुनः कहा , “कुछ पूछूँ केशव …. ?
बड़े अच्छे समय से आये हो …. !
सम्भवतः धरा छोड़ने के पूर्व मेरे अनेक भ्रम समाप्त हो जाँय ” …. !!
कृष्ण बोले – कहिये न पितामह ….!
एक बात बताओ प्रभु ! तुम तो ईश्वर हो न …. ?
कृष्ण ने बीच में ही टोका , “नहीं पितामह ! मैं ईश्वर नहीं … मैं तो आपका पौत्र हूँ पितामह … ईश्वर नहीं ….”
भीष्म उस घोर पीड़ा में भी ठठा के हँस पड़े …. ! बोले , ” अपने जीवन का स्वयं कभी आकलन नहीं कर पाया कृष्ण , सो नहीं जानता कि अच्छा रहा या बुरा , पर अब तो इस धरा से जा रहा हूँ कन्हैया , अब तो ठगना छोड़ दे रे …. !! “
कृष्ण जाने क्यों भीष्म के पास सरक आये और उनका हाथ पकड़ कर बोले …. ” कहिये पितामह …. !”
भीष्म बोले , “एक बात बताओ कन्हैया ! इस युद्ध में जो हुआ वो ठीक था क्या …. ?”
“किसकी ओर से पितामह …. ? पांडवों की ओर से …. ?”
” कौरवों के कृत्यों पर चर्चा का तो अब कोई अर्थ ही नहीं कन्हैया ! पर क्या पांडवों की ओर से जो हुआ वो सही था …. ? आचार्य #द्रोण का वध , #दुर्योधन की जंघा के नीचे प्रहार , #दुःशासन की छाती का चीरा जाना , जयद्रथ के साथ हुआ छल , निहत्थे #कर्ण का वध , सब ठीक था क्या …. ? यह सब उचित था क्या …. ?”
इसका उत्तर मैं कैसे दे सकता हूँ पितामह …. !
इसका उत्तर तो उन्हें देना चाहिए जिन्होंने यह किया ….. !!
उत्तर दें दुर्योधन का वध करने वाले #भीम , उत्तर दें कर्ण और #जयद्रथ का वध करने वाले #अर्जुन …. !!
मैं तो इस युद्ध में कहीं था ही नहीं पितामह …. !!
“अभी भी छलना नहीं छोड़ोगे कृष्ण …. ?
अरे विश्व भले कहता रहे कि महाभारत को अर्जुन और भीम ने जीता है , पर मैं जानता हूँ कन्हैया कि यह तुम्हारी और केवल तुम्हारी विजय है …. !
मैं तो उत्तर तुम्ही से पूछूंगा कृष्ण …. !”
“तो सुनिए पितामह …. !
कुछ बुरा नहीं हुआ , कुछ अनैतिक नहीं हुआ …. !
वही हुआ जो हो होना चाहिए …. !”
“यह तुम कह रहे हो केशव …. ?
#मर्यादा_पुरुषोत्तम_राम का अवतार कृष्ण कह रहा है ….? यह छल तो किसी युग में हमारे सनातन संस्कारों का अंग नहीं रहा, फिर यह उचित कैसे गया ….. ? “
“इतिहास से शिक्षा ली जाती है पितामह , पर निर्णय वर्तमान की परिस्थितियों के आधार पर लेना पड़ता है …. !
हर युग अपने तर्कों और अपनी आवश्यकता के आधार पर अपना नायक चुनता है …. !!
राम #त्रेता युग के नायक थे , मेरे भाग में द्वापर आया था …. !
हम दोनों का निर्णय एक सा नहीं हो सकता पितामह …. !!”
” नहीं समझ पाया कृष्ण ! तनिक समझाओ तो …. !”
” राम और कृष्ण की परिस्थितियों में बहुत अंतर है पितामह …. !
राम के युग में खलनायक भी ‘ #रावण ‘ जैसा शिवभक्त होता था …. !!
तब रावण जैसी नकारात्मक शक्ति के परिवार में भी #विभीषण जैसे सन्त हुआ करते थे ….. ! तब #बाली जैसे खलनायक के परिवार में भी #तारा जैसी विदुषी स्त्रियाँ और #अंगद जैसे सज्जन पुत्र होते थे …. ! उस युग में खलनायक भी धर्म का ज्ञान रखता था …. !!
इसलिए राम ने उनके साथ कहीं छल नहीं किया …. ! किंतु मेरे युग के भाग में में कंस , जरासन्ध , दुर्योधन , दुःशासन , #शकुनी , जयद्रथ जैसे घोर पापी आये हैं …. !! उनकी समाप्ति के लिए हर छल उचित है पितामह …. ! पाप का अंत आवश्यक है पितामह , वह चाहे जिस विधि से हो …. !!”
“तो क्या तुम्हारे इन निर्णयों से गलत परम्पराएं नहीं प्रारम्भ होंगी केशव …. ?
क्या भविष्य तुम्हारे इन छलों का अनुसरण नहीं करेगा …. ?
और यदि करेगा तो क्या यह उचित होगा ….. ??”
” भविष्य तो इससे भी अधिक नकारात्मक आ रहा है पितामह …. !
कलियुग में तो इतने से भी काम नहीं चलेगा …. !
वहाँ मनुष्य को कृष्ण से भी अधिक कठोर होना होगा …. नहीं तो धर्म समाप्त हो जाएगा …. !
जब क्रूर और अनैतिक शक्तियाँ सत्य एवं धर्म का समूल नाश करने के लिए आक्रमण कर रही हों, तो नैतिकता अर्थहीन हो जाती है पितामह …. !
तब महत्वपूर्ण होती है विजय , केवल विजय …. !
भविष्य को यह सीखना ही होगा पितामह ….. !!”
“क्या धर्म का भी नाश हो सकता है केशव …. ?
और यदि धर्म का नाश होना ही है , तो क्या मनुष्य इसे रोक सकता है ….. ?”
“सब कुछ ईश्वर के भरोसे छोड़ कर बैठना मूर्खता होती है पितामह …. !
ईश्वर स्वयं कुछ नहीं करता ….. ! केवल मार्ग दर्शन करता है
सब मनुष्य को ही स्वयं करना पड़ता है …. !
आप मुझे भी ईश्वर कहते हैं न …. !
तो बताइए न पितामह , मैंने स्वयं इस युद्घ में कुछ किया क्या ….. ?
सब पांडवों को ही करना पड़ा न …. ?
यही प्रकृति का संविधान है …. !
युद्ध के प्रथम दिन यही तो कहा था मैंने अर्जुन से …. ! यही परम सत्य है ….. !!”
भीष्म अब सन्तुष्ट लग रहे थे …. !
उनकी आँखें धीरे-धीरे बन्द होने लगीं थी …. !
उन्होंने कहा – चलो कृष्ण ! यह इस धरा पर अंतिम रात्रि है …. कल सम्भवतः चले जाना हो … अपने इस अभागे भक्त पर कृपा करना कृष्ण …. !”
कृष्ण ने मन मे ही कुछ कहा और भीष्म को प्रणाम कर लौट चले , पर युद्धभूमि के उस डरावने अंधकार में भविष्य को जीवन का सबसे बड़ा सूत्र मिल चुका था …. !
जब अनैतिक और क्रूर शक्तियाँ सत्य और धर्म का विनाश करने के लिए आक्रमण कर रही हों, तो नैतिकता का पाठ आत्मघाती होता है ….।

English Translation

# Mahabharata war was over. The torn clothes, crowns, broken arms, broken chariot wheels, balconies, etc. were scattered in the battlefield, and the atmosphere was in utter gloom…! Vulture, dog, amid the gloomy and frightening sounds of the jackals, in that deserted land, #Davapar’s greatest warrior “#Devavrata” (#Bhishma_Pitamah) was waiting for the sun to be # Uttarayana lying on Sharashriya – alone. …!
Just then, a familiar sound reached the ears of his ears, “Greetings Pitamah” …. !!
A dead smile floated over Bhishma’s withered lips, saying, “Come #Davakinandan ….! Welcome to you …. !!”
I was remembering you for a long time “…. !!
#Krishna said, “What should I say, Pitamah! Now even I cannot ask how are you” ….!
Bhishma kept quiet, after a few moments said, “Keshav, who has been crowned son # Yudhishthira …?”

“There is no meaning in discussing the acts of Kauravas now! Kanhaiya! But what happened on behalf of the Pandavas was right ….? Acharya # Drona’s slaughter, #Duryodhana’s thunderbolt, #Dhushasana’s chest.” Making a rip off, deceit with Jayadratha, unarmed #Karna’s slaughter, was everything okay ….? Was it all right ….? “
How can I answer this, Grandfather ….!
It should be answered by those who did this ….. !!
Answer #Bhima who killed Duryodhana, reply #Arjuna who killed Karna and #Jayadratha …. !!
I was not in this war anywhere, Grandfather …. !!

We both cannot be judged a bit, grandparents …. !! “
“Could not understand Krishna! If you explain at all ….!”
“There is a lot of difference between the circumstances of Rama and Krishna. Grandfather ….!
In the era of Ram, the villain was also a devotee like ‘# Ravana’ …. !!
Then there used to be saints like #Vibhishan even in a family of negative power like Ravana …..! Then even in the family of villains like #Bali, there were female women like #Tara and gentleman sons like #Angad….! In that era, the villain also had knowledge of religion …. !!
Therefore Rama did not cheat with her anywhere ….! But in the part of my era, there have been great sinners like Kansa, Jarasandh, Duryodhana, Dushasan, #Sakuni, Jayadratha …. !! Every trick is appropriate for their termination Grandfather ….! The end of sin is necessary, Grandfather, whatever the method may be …. !! “
“So will not Keshav start wrong traditions from these decisions of yours ….?
Will the future not follow these tricks of yours ….?
And if it does, will it be fair ….. ?? “
“The future is coming even more negative Father ….
In the Kali Yuga, even so many things will not work…!
Man will have to be stricter than Krishna there… .or else religion will end….
When cruel and immoral forces are attacking to destroy truth and religion, then morality becomes meaningless Father!
Then victory is important, only victory….!
The future will have to learn this, Grandfather ….. !! “
“Can Keshav be destroyed by religion too ….?
And if religion is to be destroyed, can man stop it …..? “
“It is foolish to sit on everything except God … Father!
God himself does nothing …..! Only guides
All human beings have to do it themselves ….!
You call me God too….
So tell me father, what did I do in this war myself …..?
All Pandavas had to do it….
This is the constitution of nature ….!
I said this to Arjun on the first day of the war…! This is the ultimate truth ….. !! “
Bhishma looked satisfied now….!
Their eyes slowly started closing.
He said – Come Krishna! This is the last night on this earth…. Might be to leave tomorrow……
Krishna said something in his mind and returned after bowing to Bhishma, but in that dreaded darkness of the battlefield, the future had found the greatest source of life….!
When immoral and cruel powers are attacking to destroy truth and religion, the lesson of morality is suicidal….
