एक बरगद के पेड़ की मार्मिक कहानी

बरगद का पेड़ कोcमें पवित्र वृक्ष मना गया है। ऐसा ही एक बरगद का वृक्ष एक गांव में था। स्त्री हों या पुरुष त्योहारों पर उसकी पूजा करते थे। समय बीतता गया और वृक्ष बढ़ता गया। बरगद का वृक्ष बहुत पुराना हो गया तो उसकी डालियां सूखने लगीं और टूटकर बिखरने लगीं।

बरगद के वृक्ष की हालत को मद्देनजर ऱखते हुए गांव में पंच बैठे, तय हुआ कि वृक्ष को काट दिया जाए और लकड़ियों को घरेलू उपयोग में लाया जाए। पंच ने इस बात को सहमति दे दी।

अगले दिन सुबह से ही गांव वाले बरगद के वृक्ष को काटने के लिए कुल्हाड़ी लेकर पहुंचे। बरगद के पेड़ के नजदीक ही एक ओर पेड़ था, वह बरगद से बोला, ‘मान्यवर ! आपको क्रोध नहीं आ रहा है। ये मनुष्य कितना स्वार्थी है। जब आपकी आवश्यकता थी तो ये सभी आपको पूजते थे। और जब आप बूढ़े हो गए हैं तो ये आपका अंत कर रहे हैं।’

बरगद के वृक्ष ने कहा, ‘नहीं दोस्त! मैं प्रसन्न हूं। कि मरने के बाद भी इनके काम आ सकूंगा। यह cहै।’
